Experience space with zero gravity flights

Climb North America’s new via ferrata Rocky Mountains, Colorado

The Champion in My Heart: Sun Yingsha
As a high school student who loves table tennis, I find Sun Yingsha to be more than just an exceptional athlete—she’s a true inspiration in my life. Her journey shows us that becoming a champion isn’t about never experiencing failure, but about how we respond(回应)to it. This lesson became particularly clear during the 2025 Beijing Grand Slam, an event I followed closely with my classmates.
When Sun Yingsha stepped onto the court for the final match, we were all watching with great excitement. She played with incredible strength, but finally, victory slipped from her grasp. Seeing her stand there as the runner-up(亚军), I wondered if this defeat would make her lose heart. Many athletes might have chosen to give up mentally after such a tough loss, but what Sun did next amazed everyone.
Instead of dwelling on her disappointment, she returned to training within days, concentrating on improving her skills. This response made her set an example that I’ve tried to follow in my own studies—when I fail a math test, I now remember how Sun Yingsha turns setbacks into opportunities. She once said in an interview that true glory comes not from never falling, but from rising each time we fall. This philosophy(哲理) has helped me face my own challenges with greater courage.
Sun Yingsha’s career(职业) brings great honour to our country, but to students like me, she represents something even more valuable—the spirit of never giving up. Her world No. 1 ranking and numerous titles are impressive, but it’s her resilience that truly defines her as my hero. Whenever I feel discouraged by academic pressure, I think of how she transforms failures into stepping stones, and I find the strength to continue striving.
24. What important lesson does the writer learn from Sun Yingsha’s experience
A. Winning is the only thing that matters in sports.
B. Athletes should concentrate on technical training.
C. Table tennis skills can be applied to academic studies.
D. How to deal with failure is more important than avoiding it.
25. How did Sun Yingsha’s response to her 2025 defeat influence the writer
A. It helped the writer understand the importance of winning.
B. It helped the writer develop a better attitude towards study.
C. It encouraged the writer to concentrate only on table tennis.
D. It encouraged the writer to pursue a professional sports career.
26. What can be inferred about Sun Yingsha’s influence on young people
A. Her influence is limited to her fans.
B. She mainly influences professional athletes.
C. She influences young people’s table tennis skills.
D. Her influence goes beyond sports to life challenges.
27. What is the writer’s attitude towards Sun Yingsha
A. Negative . B. Curious. C. Admiring. D. Doubtful.
C
Sitting close with your little ones from an early age and enjoying a book together is always a great way to spend time, but do you know reading to your children has a whole range of benefits that will give them a flying start in life
Firstly, it’s a great introduction to vocabulary. Seeing an adult sounding out the words and linking them to the shapes on the page begins to build up vocabulary that they will use for the rest of their life.
Then there are a variety of good effects of hearing stories which improve their minds and develop social awareness and skills. At a time when they are perhaps stuck indoors more than ever before, reading is the best way to motivate (激发) children’s imagination. They can travel to the moon, meet the Gruffalo and pop into a chocolate factory all before they’ve even had lunch!
There’s no better way to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes than reading their stories and seeing things from another’s point of view is a great way to build empathy (共鸣), tolerance and other qualities needed. There are some fantastic children’s books which show characters acting as strong role models. These stories can encourage future leaders and thinkers, so every child can feel they can achieve their dreams, from the Little Leaders series to Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls (叛逆女孩).
Now is the perfect time to build up a library of excellent reads ready for children to enjoy now and in the future. They will create memories to last a lifetime. On top of the benefits for your little ones, it’s fun, relaxing and a great chance to go back and reread the best books from your own childhood.
28. Who is the text written for
A. Teachers. B. Children. C.Parents. D.Leaders.
29. What does the underlined phrase “pop into” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Start. B. Visit. C. Build. D. Leave.
30. In which way does Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls do good to children
A. Building good qualities. B. Going to bed easily at bedtime .
C. Building a strong body. D. Bringing back sweet memories.
31. What is the text mainly about
A. Children’s reading habits. B. Benefits of reading to children.

David Thomas and I met when we were about 5 years old. We celebrated his 26th birthday last weekend, marking roughly two decades(十年) of friendship. David is a doctoral student now, and I’m a science reporter. We’ve both read research on the effect that friendships can have on mental health, and a study published in Child Development seemed particularly relevant(相关的) to us. The research suggests that friendships from adolescence(青少年时期) might have a special role in a person’s mental health for years.
The researchers followed 169 people for 10 years, starting when they were 15 years old. Each year, the participants(参与者)were asked to bring in their closest friends for one-on-one interviews with the researchers. “They were asked how much trust there is, how good communication is and how disconnected they feel in the relationship,” says Rachel Narr, the lead author on the study.
Narr says that when she watched videos made in the early years of the study of the teens asking their best friends for advice or support or talking through a disagreement, it was easy to tell which relationships were strong. “These teens are more likely to be open with one another about difficult topics, and they interact(互动) with one another more frequently, helping the other person when necessary,” she says.
Those strong relationships are paying off in adulthood, the study found. When the researchers evaluated the participants at the conclusion of the study, the ones who had close, emotional links showed improvement in their levels of anxiety, depression and self-worth.
I know that I would not be the same person without David’ s 20-year presence in my life. Over the years, David has been one of the first people to listen to my messes without judgment. We talked about Narr’s study last weekend, and we saw ourselves. Yes, the mechanisms(机制) behind how best friendships change one’s mental well-being may be unclear at best. But the study found that simply the presence of a best friend matters, and that makes sense to us.
32. What were the participants required to do
A. Interview their best friends. B. Watch videos of their interaction.
C. Share information about their friendships D. Work on their communication skills.
33. According to Rachel Narr, what do the teens tend to do with their best friends
A. Agree on most issues. B. Walk away from challenging topics.
C. Open up with strangers. D. Become a part of each other’s lives
34. What can be concluded about strong friendships from adolescence
A. They prove unbreakable. B. They contribute to lower self-worth.
C. They cause more anxiety. D. They produce positive results in adulthood.
35. Which opinion is the author most likely to agree with
A. A best friend is important in one’s life.
B. Lasting friendship is built on shared interests.
C. A good friend should always be frank and direct.
D. How we develop best friendships remains unclear.

Born and growing up in Italy, Tom never left his hometown until he was 13 years old. But last year, Tom’s father decided to start up his business in France, so his family had to move to Gana in the northeast of France.
Tom had a lot of difficulties in the new environment. He didn’t like the food in France. Nobody could forecast the weather in Gana. He had to start learning the second foreign language in his new school. Pocket money was not enough as usual. Almost every subject was a challenge for him. Most importantly, he had no friends. It seemed nobody knew him and he knew nobody in the school.
On an early summer evening, when Tom was going home alone from school as usual,a man called him from behind. Tom turned around and saw Andy, his PE teacher, standing in front of him.
“You know, the school will have a swimming competition next month. There will be all kinds of races. Will you participate ” Andy asked.
Tom looked at Andy with doubt and answered, “You sure Me No, I won’t. I can swim, but I’m slower than a snail.”
Andy smiled and then said, “Yes. Indeed. You are, in breaststroke(蛙泳), in backstroke, and in the butterfly, but not in freestyle. So join the freestyle race! 200-metre freestyle is the game suitable for you.”
Tom was speechless at that moment. He had never known someone in the school was observing him and caring about him.
“I don’t think I can win anything.” Tom was still a little puzzled.
“But you may get more recognition and consequently you can make some friends. That is more important than prizes, ” Andy responded immediately.
Having hesitated for a while, Tom agreed to have a try.

应用文写作【参考文章】
Dear Peter,
I’m sorry to hear that you find it hard to manage your time in high school. Many students experience the same anxiety at first, so please don’t worry too much.
Here are a few suggestions that might help. First, try creating a daily schedule to plan your tasks. Break large tasks into smaller parts to make them easier to finish, and the important ones should be put first. Also, you’d better put your phone away while studying so that you can focus. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help when you have difficulty finishing homework.
Remember, it takes time to adapt. I believe you’ll catch up soon. Best wishes!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
读后续写【参考文章】
Every afternoon for the next month, Tom trained really hard. Right after school, he rushed to the pool. Andy was always there, giving him advice and encouragement. Tom practiced his freestyle over and over again. At first, he felt tired quickly and his muscles ached. But he didn’t give up. Slowly, he grew stronger and swam farther. A few weeks later, the competition finally arrived. Standing by the swimming pool, Tom was calmer than ever.
Tom dived into the pool confidently like other competitors. He set off swiftly, swimming in the water like a flexible fish. Other competitors were soon left far behind. Shortly afterwards, he touched the wall first. Thrilled and delighted, Tom screamed out loudly, “I made it!”lt was for the first time that he’d felt so excited since he arrived in France. He realized this was just the beginning - maybe making friends wouldn’t be so hard after all. This lesson has deeply taken root in his heart: Dare to try, and you will make it.
