In valleys with thick plants, different sized round and square buildings with faded yellow clay walls and wooden roofs, tulou lies in mountainous villages in Longyan, Fujian Province. There are more than 23,000 tulou in Yongding, which became well known after 46 were given World Heritage status by UNESCO in 2008. “The structures were awarded because they are exceptional examples of a building of tradition and function demonstrating a particular type of communal living and defensive organization, and, in terms of their harmonious relationship with their environment, an outstanding example of human settlement,” UNESCO said.
The giant multi storied tulou were built with wood and mud walls. Constructed from the 15th to 20th centuries, these massive communal homes were sited based on feng shui principles, which claim to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their environment. Tulou are also purposefully resting amid tea, tobacco, rice plantations and abundant forests of pine and bamboo.
Throughout history, tulou residents have mostly been Hakka—migrants in southern China. Population pressures created conflict between the Hakka and their neighbors, so they built their homes to double as defending. The buildings are mainly four or five stories high. The first floor serves as the kitchen, the second is used for grain storage and the upper floors act as living areas. The structures are mainly symmetrical, and their defensive features include ironclad gates, escape tunnels, narrow openings for weapons under the dark tiled roofs, and a water well. For their defensive function, only rooms on the third floor and higher have windows, which are very small. With sufficient food, the residents could survive in the event of a lengthy conflict.
Communal living is integrity to these villages, where the closed wall design boosts social interaction. Residents gather in the courtyard for ceremonies such as ancestor worship and weddings. Tulou is such an extraordinary piece of architecture, living up to the title given by UNESCO.

Britons are well known for the amount of tea that they drink. The average person in the UK consumes around 1.9 kg of tea yearly. That's around 876 cups of tea. Tea is drunk by all sections of society. But tea is not native to Britain. Most tea is grown in India and China. So, how did it become an important part of British culture
Tea arrived in London in the 1600s. At this time, British ships were exploring the world and came across the drink in China. It was not long before green tea was available to buy. However, this was only available to the richer sections of society.
At the beginning of the 1700s, the amount of tea arriving in Britain increased gradually. Black tea arrived at this time. At first people drank this tea exactly as it was in China. They soon discovered that it mixed really well with a little milk and sugar, giving the drink a special British characteristic.
In the 1800s tea was still a product enjoyed only by people with money. At this time they began to have “afternoon tea”. This involves drinking tea with a snack around 4 pm to avoid feeling hungry between lunch and dinner. It is a tradition that is still going today but has become less popular in recent times.
In the late 1800s, the price of tea decreased sharply as more tea began to arrive on ships from India and China. It was no longer a drink just for rich people. Tearooms—shops where you could buy and drink tea—started to appear across the country. People enjoyed drinking tea and socialising in these places. At the start of the 20th century, Britons began to make tea in their homes whenever they felt like it. Kettles became necessary in every kitchen.

If you look around your city, you might spot girls wearing hanfu in subways or people wearing T shirts with Chinese characters on the streets. A new trend is taking hold in China—guochao, or “China chic”.
The term characterizes the rise of China's native fashion trends. It has expanded the concept of “Made in China”, which has been recognized as the representation of Chinese culture and aesthetics offered by homegrown Chinese brands, according to CGTN.
China chic came into the spotlight in 2018.Before that, big name foreign companies dominated the world market. To win market share, many Chinese brands followed in the footsteps of these Western brands. But that year, Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning changed things up. During the 2018 New York Fashion Week, Li Ning introduced its Taoism inspired Wu Dao collection. The collection not only had a trendy look, but also included elements of traditional Chinese culture. It immediately grabbed attention at home and abroad. As a result, the company recorded 20 percent revenue growth in 2018, marking the first time the brand's revenue had hit the 10 billion yuan mark since its founding.
The trend to embrace domestic brands has since spread rapidly to various sectors and products, from food and drinks to clothing, mobile phones and electric vehicles. For example, White Rabbit, whose sweet candy brings back childhood memories for many, launched its perfume and lip balm. “We want White Rabbit to be a brand that young people want to share,” Shen Qinfeng, the company's marketing manager, told People's Daily.
Now, the guochao trend is “moving to the next stage, where its success will rely, first and foremost, on gaining cultural confidence rather than Western validation”, according to Kerra Zhou, founder of brand strategy consultancy Kerrisma.
No matter how the guochao trend evolves, there's one thing that won't change: Behind the craze is people's positive attitude toward the country's development and their recognition of and growing confidence in national culture, said Yao Linqing, a professor in the School of Economics and Management at Communication University of China.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I love to travel around when I am in a new country. On one hand, I can admire different scenes; on the other hand, it is a terrific chance to experience different customs and culture.
I always remember something that happened to me when I was working in an Asian country. I had just arrived in the country for a one year teaching position. I was curious about the place and took any chance to travel around. One day, I took the subway to visit some ancient palaces and temples in the downtown. The following account of what happened to me has taught me much about culture difference.
The subway was crowded. Since all the seats were taken, I stood. I was carrying a heavy bag on my back, which made it more difficult for me to hold balance on the over crowded car. But I was used to travelling in any hard situation, therefore I didn't pay much attention to it. I was absorbed in my own thought, thinking over what I was going to get through the visit. Suddenly, I felt someone pulling on my bag. I was a bit surprised and thought I probably was in someone's way. So I moved over slightly to make more room. But in one quick motion (动作), I felt my bag was removed from my back, and in a flash it was gone. It came to me that I was robbed! I turned around to see who it was. I looked at the people standing behind me, but didn't see my bag or any suspect. My heart sank and I began to get worried. I was new to the place and was unable to speak the language. I even did not know whom to turn to or what to do when a rob was happening to me.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
I quickly glanced around the car only to find directly across from me was an elderly lady, and sitting on her lap (大腿部) was my bag. Finally, the subway arrived at the main downtown station.
I quickly glanced around the car only to find directly across from me was an elderly lady, and sitting on her lap (大腿部) was my bag. I tried to get it back from her lap. But as I began to pull it up, she quickly grabbed it back and held onto it. I looked around at the people standing beside me, and those sitting beside her, but no one took any notice of the situation. Trying not to cause a scene, I tried to negotiate through gestures. I used my hands as best as I could, but she ignored my requests for my bag and pointed to my back. She picked up my bag, showing how heavy it was. I finally began to understand. She was holding my bag to help me. At the next stop, a middle aged woman got on the crowded subway. Another elderly woman sitting down took her bag, sitting it on her lap. They didn't talk; yet this older woman was more than pleased to sit with this stranger's bag on her lap throughout her journey.
Finally, the subway arrived at the main downtown station. I was getting ready to get off, the woman gently handed me back my bag. But before I had a chance to thank her, she had disappeared into the crowd. Sadly, this considerate custom was more surprising to me than if I had been robbed. Everyone back home had heard of being robbed—that was usual city behavior—but having a stranger hold onto someone's bag out of kindness, in a city of twelve million people—that was truly unusual.

I was absorbed in my own thought, thinking over what I was going to
get through the visit.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
I quickly glanced around the car only to find directly across from me was an elderly lady, and sitting on her lap (大腿部) was my bag. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍Finally, the subway arrived at the main downtown station. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍

At the next stop, a middle aged woman
got on the crowded subway. Another elderly woman sitting down took her bag, sitting it on her lap. They didn‘t talk; yet this older woman was more than pleased to sit with this stranger’s bag on her lap throughout her journey.
