Dear Steven,
I’m writing to sincerely thank you for offering to take care of the dog I found on
the subway. I’ve been worried about it since I couldn’t keep it myself, so your help
really lifted a weight off my shoulders.
I’m curious how the dog is doing now. Does it eat well Is it getting used to your
place Also, if there’s anything you need, like dog food or toys, please don’t hesitate
to tell me. I’d be happy to prepare them.
Thanks again for your kindness!
Yours,
Li Hua
读后续写参考范文:
That night, Shmily tried to comfort me. “You know they were just scared, right ”
she said, handing me a glass of warm water. I shook my head, staring at the ceiling.
“Being scared is normal, but watching a friend get robbed and saying nothing is
cowardice.” The next morning, I texted my friends, telling them I needed space. Their
replies were full of excuses—“We didn’t want to get hurt,” “It happened so fast”—but
none held weight. I deleted their contacts, not out of anger, but because I realized true
friendship shouldn’t make you feel alone in danger.
A month later, I was waiting for Bus No. 808 again when I saw that
middle-aged man again. “Fancy meeting you here!” he laughed, holding a stack of
textbooks. We chatted as we waited, and he told me he’d started a small
“anti-pickpocket” group with his students, sharing tips on buses. Before I got on the
bus, he handed me a card. “If you ever want to join, call me,” he said. As the bus
pulled away, I looked at the card—his name was Li Ming—and smiled. Ever since
then, we have become close friends. Sometimes, losing fake friends leads to meeting
people who truly share your values, and that day on Bus No. 808 taught me more

about friendship than any year before.

think we all need a bit more time to practice during the school holidays.
(Text 2)
W: Mark, how’s the coffee shop these days
M: Still hard work, but I love it. I’ve taken on two members of staff. Neither of them
has any experience of this type of work, but they’re fast learners.
(Text 3)

painted a picture of the mountains. Well, guess what! I won first prize.
M: It’s fantastic! Congratulations!

M: Hi Sophie! Where are you off to
W: I’m just off to the sports center to swim.
2
M: Do you go there a lot
W: Just on Mondays and Fridays. It really helps me to keep fit.
M: Well, I find that playing team sports outdoors is more effective for keeping fit!
Anyway, I guess you got the center’s student discount when you got your
membership, didn’t you
W: I don’t remember them mentioning that.
M: Well, it’s worth enquiring about it, especially if you go there often.
W: OK.

M: Lisa, why did you take part in this tough race, the Jungle Ultra
W: Well, I actually watched a documentary about disappearing rainforests. I knew the
rainforests were in danger and I wanted to see them. I looked for interesting
events around the Amazon, and I found the Jungle Ultra.
M: Are you a jungle fan
W: I’m not a fan of the jungle because of the scary animals, but I strongly believe we
should save the rainforests. One day I was running with a teammate when he
suddenly stopped and whispered, “A tiger!”. We stayed very still for a long time
until it walked past. It was the most frightening experience in my life.

W: Doctor Ali, your book Journalism and AI has come out recently. How did you
come up with that idea
M: Well, when we refer to automated journalism, people think we’re talking about a
science fiction world. Wrong. AI is being used here and now I just want more
people to be aware of it.
W: So do you often use that
M: Yeah, computers are great at collecting data. AI programs can monitor hundreds
of news sources, and then collect relevant data. That’s the main reason I use AI.
W: OK. Can AI identify negative comments on news websites
M: Yes, it can. It’s helpful to human monitors.
W: I believe AI tools can produce graphics from data.
M: Yes. An AI tool could gather information about the popularity of a politician, let’s
say, and present it in nice, readily understood graphic form, combining images
and data.
W: Amazing! Could you recommend a popular AI tool to me
M: Sure.

M: Today I’m talking to Jemma, an award-winning baker who is only 16. Tell us
about the award, Jemma.
3
W: OK. We’d seen these programs on TV where people compete against each other to
be the best baker, so the schools decided to organize something similar for the
students. I was so proud to represent my school.
M: Where did you learn to bake
W: I have my grandmother to thank for that. I used to stay with her at weekends. She
didn’t mind doing the normal things like painting and going to the park, but she
always looked forward to baking with me.
M: Do you cook for special occasions
W: Yes, I’m always asked to bake for picnics and family birthdays. The most recent
one was for my sister’s birthday last Friday. I was very glad that my family
enjoyed the cake.
M: Will you consider baking as a career in the future
W: Hmm … I want to keep baking as a hobby. Now I’m studying hard at school and
hope to go to university next year. Now I just hope I have an oven in my student
accommodation!

OK, as part of my class presentation on interests, let me tell you about how I
spend my time. For the past 18 months, I’ve been working as a volunteer at the local
leisure center. It was my mum who persuaded me to find out about what was on offer.
The first thing I did was work with some other kids to serve food to older people. I
really enjoyed it. That was a while ago and since then I’ve done lots of different
things. I’ve helped run holiday groups for children. I’ve done more activities with
elder visitors to the center. Now I’m working with teenagers on an art project. I spend
about 16 hours a month volunteering. I’ve learned a lot from it. I believe that I have
the ability to do things well by myself. I’ve also made lots of friends. Moreover, I
think the experience will benefit me in future job interviews.
