As we reached the last riddle, a clue about an ancient Chinese tale suddenly popped up. It
referred to the legend of the Monkey King from " Journey to the West," something I knew by heart
from childhood stories. Hesitantly, I explained the tale's themes of adventure and transformation,
linking it to the puzzle's hints about"a mischievous traveler with a magical staff." My teammates
listened attentively, andEmma's eyes widened in admiration.“That's it” Carlos from Brazil shouted, as
we connected the dots to reveal the hidden treasure—a small box of international treats. The group's
applause washed over me,turning my initial anxiety into a sense of triumph. For the first time, I felt
my cultural background was an asset, not a barrier, fostering deeper connections as we shared laughs
over our victory.
Solving the riddle injected more confidence into me for the evening cultural presentation.
Ivolunteered to showcase a traditional Chinese fan dance, incorporating elements from my heritage
that I'd practiced back home. With Emma and the others cheering me on, I moved gracefully under the
camp lights, explaining the symbolism of harmony and elegance. The audience, including campers
from diverse nations, responded with enthusiasm, asking questions that sparked lively discussions on
global traditions. As the night wound down with a group photo and promises to stay in touch, I
realized the camp had bridged my isolation into lasting friendships. When I headed back to my cabin,
the weight of homesickness lifted, replaced by gratitude for this transformative experience that
celebrated unity in diversity.

Text 10
How many days can you survive without being connected to the Internet How about living in a
cave for40 days Fifteen volunteers did just that. They took part in a project called Deep Time.(18)
Scientists from the Human Adaption Institute led the $1.9 million project. The project was to find out
how people would adapt to great changes in living conditions.(19) They put the volunteers in a cave
for nearly six weeks. There was no sunlight and the volunteers had no contact with the outside world.
They had to rely on their body clock to know when to wake up, go to sleep and eat. Most of the
volunteers said they enjoyed the pared with living outside, they wouldn't be troubled
by all kinds of information from various electronic devices. They were able to focus on themselves
and had more time to think and rest. It made them feel calm and they enjoyed the feeling. On the other
hand, however, some volunteers lost their sense of time.(20) They couldn't tell how long they had been
in the cave. That made them uneasy sometimes.

A篇
根据“Benefits”第三点“After completing the Fellowship, Teaching Fellows
becomemembers of the Senior Fellows Program, allowing them to stay involved in the
Knowles community ...”
根据 “Candidate Requirements”第三点 “Have earned a mathematics,
biology, chemistry, or physics degree within the past ten years ...”
根据第三段“Coffi Lab also donates the profits from the homemade dog
biscuits ...raised more than 100,000 for Guide Dogs charity”可知,其通过销售自制狗饼干
根据第二段“that Penn may possess a Shakespearean treasure is no surprise.
ItsShakespeare collections ... are world-famous”
第二段明确提到到“public school systems are embracing four-day weeks”,即公
G:“However, one unexpected factor influencing procrastination is loneliness.”(然而,
“It'sdifferentfromisolation ...”(它不同于孤独),后面说“One can have many friends but still feel
A“Loneliness is more of a feeling than a
thannot, it makes even the smallest of tasks ... seem impossible to do.”(它常常让最小的任务
B“Not surprisingly, it can ruin our motivation.”(毫不奇怪,它会破
39空后面说“During that
timewe learned to associate challenge with the pain of being alone.”(在那时我们学会了将挑
“During that time”暗示前面提到了某个时期。选项 D“It can
often berelated to negative experiences in childhood.”(它常与童年的负面经历有关)中“童年”
40. E 40空后直接给出解决方案:“Building genuine social bonds ... is a good one.”(通过社区活动或
E“Addressing this link requires self-
41. C “Getting caught in a flood”(遭遇洪水)显然不是幸运的一天,“lucky”(幸运的)符合语境,其他
42. D “nowhere to be seen”
45. B 从后文“made a wrong turn”(转错弯)可推测 Justin 是新来(new) to Richmond 的,不熟悉路
46. A “land somebody/ oneself in something”为固定搭配,意为“使某人陷入困境”,故选 land。
47. B “a wave broke over”(一波浪冲过 ),描述洪水冲过汽车 ,“froze”(结冰 ),“danced”(跳
54. D 呼应前文 “made a wrong turn”, 此处指转错弯 (turn), “plan”(计划 ), “suggestion”(建
“when”(当……
固定搭配“at the age of”,表示“在······岁时”。
单数,用 has spent。
60. While/ Though/ Although
fading。
