I had been planning a hiking trip to the Canadian Rockies ever since I saw the beautiful scenery there in a magazine. My dream finally got realized last summer, when my wife and I went on a vacation to the national parks of the Alberta-British Columbia border (边界).
After our experiences of a wet vacation in the beginning of summer in New Zealand a couple of years ago, we decided to push this trip to the end of summer — just to change things a bit. Our choice paid off. After the wettest June and July in its history, the region met with one of the longest periods of good weather in early August when we happened to visit.
Banff National Park, which is the first national park in Canada, was our first destination. We spent an hour riding the boat in Banff before quickly heading off to the hikers’ dream place of Lake Louise, where we met our biggest disappointment of the trip. The park authorities determined that the area’s bears could pose a threat to smaller groups. To ensure visitors’ safety, all paths, including the Paradise Valley hike, were closed to groups of fewer than six people. Couples, such as us, were forced to hunt for couples with similar routes and physical abilities. We gave up halfway when realizing it was harder than expected.
In order to fill the sudden vacuum (空缺) in our schedule, we then decided to visit Glacier and Mt. Revelstoke, which are two less-visited parks of the area, not because they lack scenery, but because bigger parks to their west get most of the tourist traffic. Driving toward the parks, my wife looked through maps, her eyes shining with curiosity. With each turn of the road, we felt a thrill of excitement. The unknown lay ahead, and we accepted it wholeheartedly, eager to see what hidden surprises awaited us around the next corner.
24.How might the author feel about the timing of their travel
A.Satisfied. B.Indifferent. C.Regretful D.Hesitant.
25.Why were paths to Lake Louise closed to small groups
A.To protect wildlife habitats. B.To avoid the risk of bear attacks.
C.To increase tourist numbers. D.To aid systematic management.
26.What keeps Glacier and Mt. Revelstoke from being widely noticed
A.Their more attractive neighboring parks. B.Their inconvenient transportation.
C.Their remote geographical location. D.Their unremarkable scenery.
27.What lesson can we draw from the author’s travel experience
A.Dare to take adventures. B.Stand up against unreasonable rules.
C.Be careful to explore unfamiliar places. D.Be flexible and positive about the unexpected.

Before 2021, the typically cool Pacific Northwest and western Canada seemed highly unlikely to get a killer heat wave, but they did. Many in North Carolina figured that hurricanes were a coastal problem until Helene blew in last year. After the deadly flood in central Texas in 1987, some thought they could deal with the worst flooding in the future. Then came the terrible flash flood that killed more than 179 people in July, 2025.
Climate change is making extreme weather events more frequent (频繁) and intense, according to climate data. But experts warn that people and governments are generally living in the past and haven’t accepted that extreme weather is becoming a new norm, to say nothing about preparing for the worse future that’s in store.
“There’s plenty of evidence (证据) that we start to experience things that just basically never happened before,” Princeton University climate scientist Michael Oppenheimer said. “Unfortunately, when these risks are coming right at us like a fast-moving train, we just stand in the tracks. Then, all of a sudden, ‘BAM’. ”
Surviving past extreme events can leave people believing that it won’t happen again or, if it does, that they’ll be fine… It’s sort of a psychological mechanism (心理机制) to protect themselves from the terrible stress caused by those disasters. “But with extreme weather events happening more frequently and in more places, this mindset can prevent them from well preparing,” said Kim Klockow McClain, an extreme weather social scientist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research who studies communicating disaster warnings and risk. “This overconfidence can be dangerous. The message needs to be, ‘If you’re used to some degree of flooding, look at what happened in Texas and realize that this is a shifting baseline.’”
As for future disasters, the country needs to figure out and plan for the worst case instead of looking to the past. It’s obvious that we’re living into a future where what used to be extreme becomes normal, typical, and what used to never occur in a human lifetime or maybe even in a thousand years becomes the new extreme.
28.What do experts warn about people
A.It is dangerous to take the new situation lightly.
B.Even cool areas are feeling climate change.
C.Extreme weather used to happen more often.
D.We can’t easily know when natural disasters will happen.
29.What is Michael’s attitude towards the current situation
A.Curious. B.Regretful. C.Concerned. D.Indifferent.
30.What is the survivors’ reaction to similar future disasters
A.They usually appear to be too positive. B.They do their best to get prepared for them.
C.They tend to trust government plans more. D.They are willing to seek professional advice.
31.What should people do for future disasters according to the text
A.Learn from the past. B.Get prepared for the worst.
C.Think carefully before they act. D.Follow the way of nature.

After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing.
Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, separate rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.
Every four-square-metre room provides a treadmill (跑步机) music, watch movies and check emails by connecting to the Internet by the screen fixed on the treadmill. But there’s no shower.
Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room in advance and then need to scan a QR code for use. A refundable deposit (可退还的押金) of 99 yuan is required, and users are charged 1 yuan every 5 minutes.
The shared gym rooms are created by Misspao, a Beijing-based technology company founded in July. Within several months since it was founded, the company has already raised over 100 million yuan. However, the idea of the shared fitness experience is not totally new. Last December, the company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings.
The sharing economy is still becoming popular in China. According to Yicai Global, confident people are pouring millions into sharing start-ups. In March, the State Information Centre published a report which says that the total value of China’s sharing economy will see a yearly growth of 40% in the coming years, and it is expected to make a great contribution to the country’s GDP.
32.Which of the following is a potential advantage of shared gym rooms over traditional gyms
A.They offer a wider variety of group exercise classes.
B.They are more suitable for large-scale social activities.
C.They are cheaper as they require no deposit.
D.They might be more conveniently located near neighborhoods.
33.What is the correct process for using a shared gym room
A.Scan the code, book the room, then locate it.
B.Pay the deposit, watch TV, then connect to the internet.
C.Locate the room, book it, then scan a QR code to use it.
D.Run on the treadmill, then get a refund automatically.
34.Who would benefit MOST from using a shared gym room
A.A professional athlete who needs intensive daily training.
B.A person living in an apartment who wants a convenient and private workout.
C.A family looking for a weekend activity to do together.
D.A tourist who wants to take a shower after sightseeing.
35.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A.To introduce shared gym rooms. B.To praise a technology company.
C.To support the idea of sharing gym rooms. D.To tell the future of shared gym rooms.

Get enough supplies
Spend the week before the first day of school making sure you and your child know what school supplies are required. 40 . But if not, take it upon yourself to ask and then buy the necessities as early as possible. Note that high school students may require specialized tools for more advanced learning.

Emily Harper sat at her desk, staring blankly at the math problems in front of her. Numbers and variables danced confusingly across the page, laughing at her every effort. At school, Emily was known for her artistic talents, but math had always been her weakness. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t make sense of it.
Her struggles only worsened in the 10th grade. The pressure to keep up with her classmates grew, and the poor grades shook her confidence. Her parents decided to step in. “We need to find you some help.” her mother gently suggested one evening.
Then came Mr. Jenkins, a retired local teacher known for his unique teaching style. Emily was initially resistant; the idea of spending extra hours on a subject she hated seemed like a punishment. But she unwillingly agreed, knowing something had to change.
Their first session was tense. Mr. Jenkins, sensing her frustration, didn’t dive straight into problems. Instead, he asked about her interests. When Emily spoke passionately about her painting, he smiled. “Math is like art, Emily. It has patterns and beauty if you know where to look.”
Doubtful but inspired, Emily listened as he began to explain concepts through visual examples. He used colors and shapes, turning abstract numbers into something almost tangible (有形的). For the first time, math seemed less like a foreign language and more like a puzzle waiting to be solved.
However, progress was slow. Weeks passed with minimal improvement, and Emily’s patience wore thin. A particularly difficult quiz left her in tears, convinced she was sure to fail. Mr. Jenkins said. “Remember, Emily, every artist starts with a blank canvas, Masterpieces aren’t created overnight.”
Encouraged by his firm belief, Emily pushed on. She began to see the connections between the steps, how each there, celebrating her successes, no matter how minor.
(1)续写词数应为150左右;
Gradually, Emily’s confidence grew with Mr. Jenkins’ help.

M: Hi, Jane. Welcome back. How was the West Coast
W: Terrific. I had a wonderful time. It was really nice to get away from the city for a while.
M: What did you think of Los Angeles
W: It was all right. I liked it better than I thought I would. It’s very clean and spacious, and it’s got a lot of trees. The problem is transportation. The bus service is terrible, and of course, they don’t have any subway, so it’s a little difficult to get around. We had to rent a car.
M: And was the weather good
W: Oh, yes. It was nice and warm in Los Angeles and cool but comfortable in San Francisco.
M: Cool in San Francisco That’s surprising.
W: Yeah, it surprised me a bit, too. We didn’t take any sweaters or anything, and they say it’s always like that in August. Anyway, I love it. It’s probably the most beautiful city in the US - all those hills, the bay, and those charming old Victorian houses.
M: So, you like it better than Los Angeles
W: Oh. Yes. There’s much more to see and do. And because it’s smaller than Los Angeles, it’s a bit easier to get around. There are lots of buses and streetcars, and of course, the cable cars, too.

Good afternoon, shoppers. We need your attention. We have a lost boy at the front of the store. He has been in the manager’s office for ten minutes and no one has come forward to ask for him. He has light brown hair and blue eyes. He is wearing a red T-shirt and jeans. He has a white T-shirt in his hand. On the back of the T-shirt is the word “BOY” spelled in big letters. He says his name is Jack. He doesn’t know his mother’s name because he says he calls her mom. He doesn’t know his address because he says his mom always takes him home. He appears to be about six years old. A clerk found him sitting in the toy section drawing in the coloring books there. If his mother is still in the store, we ask that she come by and please pick up her son.

根据The Yinxu Ruins, Henan province中“Spreading across over 30 square kilometers, the site features the greatest number of oracle bone inscriptions (甲骨文) discovered so far in the world.(该遗址占地30多平方公里,是迄今为止世界上发现数量最多的甲骨文遗址)”可知,殷墟遗址以甲骨文出名。故选B。
根据文章第一段“As April 18 marks the International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day, we’ve selected four archaeological (考古的) sites in China that deserve exploration.(4月18日是国际古迹和遗址日,也被称为世界遗产日,我们在中国选择了四个值得探索的考古遗址)”及全文内容可知,本文介绍了四处考古遗址,可以在一本旅行指南中找到。

根据第二段中“Our choice paid off. After the wettest June and July in its history, the region met with one of the longest periods of good weather in early August when we happened to visit.(我们的选择得到了回报。在经历了历史上最潮湿的6月和7月之后,8月初我们访问该地区时,遇到了当地历史上最长的晴朗天气之一。)”可知,作者对他们的旅行时间安排感到满意。故选A。
根据第三段中“The park authorities determined that the area’s bears could pose a threat to smaller groups. To ensure visitors’ safety, all paths, including the Paradise Valley hike, were closed to groups of fewer than six people.(公园管理部门认定,该地区的熊可能会对小团体构成威胁。为了确保游客的安全,包括天堂谷徒步旅行在内的所有小路都对少于6人的团体关闭。)”可知,路易斯湖对小团体关闭是为了避免熊攻击的风险。故选B。
26.细节理解题。根据第四段中“In order to fill the sudden vacuum (空缺) in our schedule, we then decided to visit Glacier and Mt. Revelstoke, which are two less-visited parks of the area, not because they lack scenery, but because bigger parks to their west get most of the tourist traffic.(为了填补我们日程安排上的突然空缺,我们决定去参观冰川和雷夫尔斯托克山,这两个公园是这个地区游客较少的地方,不是因为它们缺乏风景,而是因为它们西边更大的公园吸引了大部分游客。)” 故选A。
根据倒数第二段中“Banff National Park, which is the first national park in Canada, was our first destination. We spent an hour riding the boat in Banff before quickly heading off to the hikers’ dream place of Lake Louise, where we met our biggest disappointment of the trip. (班夫国家公园是加拿大第一座国家公园,也是我们此行的第一站。我们在班夫乘船游览了一个小时,随后便马不停蹄地前往徒步旅行者的梦想之地 —— 路易斯湖,然而在这里,我们遭遇了旅途最大的遗憾。)”、最后一段“In order to fill the sudden vacuum (空缺) in our schedule, we then decided to visit Glacier and Mt. The unknown lay ahead, and we accepted it wholeheartedly, eager to see what hidden surprises awaited us around the next corner.(为了填补行程中突然出现的空缺,我们随后决定前往冰川国家公园和雷夫尔斯托克山国家公园,这两个公园是该地区游客较少的景点,并非因为它们缺乏风景,而是因为它们西部更大的公园吸引了大部分游客。

根据第一段“Before 2021, the typically cool Pacific Northwest and western Canada seemed highly unlikely to get a killer heat wave, but they did. Many in North Carolina figured that hurricanes were a coastal problem until Helene blew in last year. After the deadly flood in central Texas in 1987, some thought they could deal with the worst flooding in the future. Then came the terrible flash flood that killed more than 179 people in July, 2025.(在2021年之前,通常凉爽的太平洋西北地区和加拿大西部似乎不太可能出现致命的热浪,但它们却真的发生了。北卡罗来纳州的许多人认为飓风只是一种沿海问题,直到去年的“海伦”飓风来袭。在 1987年德克萨斯州中部发生致命洪灾之后,一些人认为他们能够应对未来最严重的洪灾。然而,在2025年7月,发生了导致超过179人死亡的可怕山洪暴发)”以及第二段中“But experts warn that people and governments are generally living in the past and haven’t accepted that extreme weather is becoming a new norm, to say nothing about preparing for the worse future that’s in store.(但专家警告称,人们和政府普遍仍停留在过去的状态,他们尚未意识到极端天气已逐渐成为一种新的常态,更不用说为未来可能出现的更糟情况做好准备了)”可知,专家警告人们对新情况掉以轻心是危险的。故选A。
根据第三段““There’s plenty of evidence (证据) that we start to experience things that just basically never happened before,” Princeton University climate scientist Michael Oppenheimer said. “Unfortunately, when these risks are coming right at us like a fast-moving train, we just stand in the tracks. Then, all of a sudden, ‘BAM’. ”(普林斯顿大学气候科学家迈克尔·奥本海默表示:“有大量证据表明,我们开始经历一些此前从未发生过的事情。不幸的是,当这些风险像疾驰的火车一样向我们袭来时,我们却只能呆在原地。然后,突然间,‘砰’的一声。”)”可知,迈克尔·奥本海默对目前的状况感到担忧。故选C。
30.细节理解题。根据第四段中““But with extreme weather events happening more frequently and in more places, this mindset can prevent them from well preparing,” said Kim Klockow McClain, an extreme weather social scientist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research who studies communicating disaster warnings and risk. “This overconfidence can be dangerous. The message needs to be, ‘If you’re used to some degree of flooding, look at what happened in Texas and realize that this is a shifting baseline.’”(“但随着极端天气事件愈发频繁且在更多地区发生,这种心态可能会导致人们无法做好充分准备。”美国大气研究大学联盟的极端天气社会科学家金·克洛科夫·麦克莱恩说道,她专门研究灾害预警和风险的传播问题。“这种过度自信是危险的。应该传达的信息是:‘如果你已经习惯了一定程度的洪水,那就看看得克萨斯州发生的情况,意识到这是一个不断变化的基准线。’”)”可知,幸存者对未来类似灾难的反应是他们通常表现得过于乐观。故选A。
根据最后一段“As for future disasters, the country needs to figure out and plan for the worst case instead of looking to the past. It’s obvious that we’re living into a future where what used to be extreme becomes normal, typical, and what used to never occur in a human lifetime or maybe even in a thousand years becomes the new extreme.(至于未来的灾难,这个国家需要设想并规划最坏的情况,而非只回顾过去。很明显,我们正生活在一个这样的未来:过去极其罕见的情况变得平常、常见,而过去在人类一生中甚至在千年内都未曾发生过的事情,如今却成为了新的极端情况)”可知,作者呼吁政府和人民做好最坏的打算。故选B。

33.细节理解题。根据第四段中“Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room in advance and then need to scan a QR code for use.(与使用共享单车类似,用户可以通过智能手机应用程序找到共享健身房,提前预订房间,然后扫描二维码使用。)”
根据第二段“Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, separate rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.(普通健身房为许多会员同时提供大而开放的空间,而新建的共享健身房是供个人使用的小而独立的房间,通常设置在生活区附近。)”
通读全文,尤其是第一段“After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing.(在自行车和雨伞在中国变得可共享之后,一些公司开始关注健身市场,所以共享健身房在北京的街道上出现了。)”和第二段“Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, separate rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.(普通健身房为许多会员同时提供大而开放的空间,而新建的共享健身房是供个人使用的小而独立的房间,通常设置在生活区附近。)” 故选A。

67. Gradually, Emily’s confidence grew with Mr. Jenkins’ help. She started to approach math problems with newfound enthusiasm. Instead of dreading them, she would actively seek solutions, applying the techniques Mr. Jenkins had taught her. She no longer saw math as an insurmountable obstacle but as an exciting challenge. In class, she began to volunteer answers, much to the surprise of her teachers and classmates. Her after-school study sessions became a time of exploration rather than frustration. She would spend hours practicing, often losing track of time as she delved deeper into the world of numbers.
Emily’s heart raced when the results day arrived. She had worked so hard, and the thought of seeing if it had paid off filled her with both excitement and anxiety. As she opened the envelope containing her math test results, her eyes widened. A broad smile spread across her face. She had passed with flying colors! She couldn't wait to tell Mr. Jenkins. His unwavering belief in her and his unique teaching methods had finally borne fruit. This achievement was not just a victory in math but a testament to her own perseverance and the power of a great teacher.
