第二节
With these tools, Michael started to work. It was freezing cold and the winter wind stung Michael's face.Fortunately, he didn't have to wet his hands while washing the cars, otherwise, he wouldn't have made it in such a harsh situation. As he was spreading soap over the wheels, Greg came to help. He grabbed the towel and started to dry the car, which fastened the washing a lot. One car after another, Michael started to feel the warmth sweeping over his body and sweat even hung over his forehead with the last car done. Michael and Greg came back to the house and Michael counted the bills.
To Michael's surprise, he found he earned more money than expected. Then Greg asked,“Do you have enough for that field trip ”“Yeah.” Michael smiled and a better idea struck him. Michael winked at Greg,“Ithink the money is enough for both of us this year.” Greg couldn't believe his ears and opened his eyes wide.“You mean the two of us for the field trip ” he asked with his jaw dropping.“Yes” Michael said with a proud voice. The brothers were wild with joy, for they could finally enjoy a field trip together, which would witness the love of the two brothers.

A group of clouds are expected to arrive on Tuesday morning, and rain will follow by around three o' clock in the afternoon on the same day. The wet weather will continue until Thursday morning. While the sun should appear again by noon on Friday, it is very possible that a storm will hit us later during the day. So make sure you have your umbrella with you the whole week. The good news is that we will have great weather this weekend thanks to some wind coming from the southeast. As for the temperature, it shall climb to 17 degrees this afternoon. However, because of the rain, it will drop to between six and eight degrees by Tuesday, and remain like that until the weekend. So stay warm and follow our updates!2025—2026学年上学期高一12月份考试

At just 19 years old, Aki a Peters teaches at the Sisseton Wahpeton tribal College. He specializes in a language that is thousands of years old, the Dakota language, spoken by theDakota people.
“The Dakota language is‘the most important aspect’ of Dakota culture. Without it, ourDakota culture would no longer exist.” Peters claimed.“I was lucky to grow up around many first-language Dakota speakers. But now the elderly continually passed away and at the end of their lives, they just wanted to know their families would continue to have the language. One of the problems our people have is finding ways to get at-length and ongoing exposure(接触)to the language.”
Aside from instructing at the college level, Peters uses social media to share videos that connect humor, culture, and basic-level conversation to help teach Dakota. In his free time,he visits Dakota elders. He also started an online group of youth to share the knowledge of the language in a safe and supportive space.
Aki a Peters wants to tell the youth that if they want to learn their own language, sit with their elders and learn from them. Endless vocabulary sheets could discourage them from learning. Standards created by non-speakingers could also do that.“Within the next decade, Ibelieve my colleagues, other Dakota-learning relatives and I will have children and start a new generation of Dakota. I also hope my brothers and sisters will take the path we laid out for them and continue to learn and speak Dakota. On my reservation there are numerous young people working on the comeback of the language. I'm hopeful because I'm definitely not alone.” Aki a Peters told Teenvogue.
24. Why does Aki a Peters teach the Dakota language

In Spain, children and their families are riding bikes to school together in large groups. The program is called"bicibús"or bike bus. In Barcelona, the program started recently with only five children and grew quickly to hundreds of riders.
This fall, children in the Eixample area of Barcelona have a new way to get to school onFridays—— they ride their bikes. In September, a group of five children began biking to school with their parents on Fridays. Soon the group grew to 150 or more. The bike bus begins around 8:25 every Friday morning. The route it will follow is always posted ahead of time, so everyone knows where to join.
Instead of riding in bike lanes(道) or on sidewalks, the bicibús takes over the entire street. The commute(通勤) of these bikers takes about 25 minutes. And with the ever-growing cycling and skating kids taking part in this bike bus culture, the local police are helping stop traffic by riding in front of the bicibús and behind it. This further makes the parents happy that the additional security means their children will travel safely to school.
With music playing and bike bells ringing, the bicibús feels like a party.“The best part of the bicibús is that we ride along and pick up my friends and we ride together,” nine-year-oldMaria Pitarch says.

When it comes to lowering blood pressure, studies have typically shown that aerobic(有氧的) exercises are best. Recent research suggests another type of physical activity is worth including as an effective tool to prevent and treat high blood pressure.
Exercises that contract (收缩) muscles without movement, such as wall squats and planks, may be best for lowering blood pressure, according to a large study published in July,2023 in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
This type of training is known as isometric exercise, according to the Mayo Clinic.Isometric muscle action happens when muscles contract but do not visibly(可见的) change length, and the joints related don't move, improving stability(稳定) of the body. Isometric exercises can be done with weights or without, just relying on the body's own weight.
“These findings provide a comprehensive data-driven framework to support the development of new exercise guideline recommendations for the prevention and treatment of high blood pressure,” said study coauthor Dr. Jamie O' Driscoll in a news release.
The researchers looked into randomized controlled trials that had reported the effects of exercise interventions, lasting two or more weeks, on blood pressure between 1990 and 2023.From a review of 270 trials with 15,827 participants, the researchers found that among HIIT(high intensity interval training), isometric exercise, aerobic exercise, dynamic resistance training and a combination of the latter two, isometric exercise led to the greatest reductions in blood pressure.
It's also important to note that there are other lifestyle changes as well as exercise that can benefit your blood pressure. These include keeping to a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet, cutting down on salt, not drinking too much alcohol and ensuring that you continue to take any prescribed medication.

This year, Michael’ s class would arrange a field trip to the city museum and he really wanted to go. So he was trying to earn some pocket money.
On this cold autumn morning, Michael gathered the last of the leaves into a small pile. There weren't even enough to jump in. “Mom and Dad are never going to pay me for gathering this little bit of leaves.”“What are you talking about ” Greg asked, walking up behind him.“I'm trying to do some housework so I can make enough money to cover my field trip to the city museum, but there's nothing to do around here.” Michael sighed and looked around.
“You could offer to wash Mom and Dad's cars,” Greg said.
Michael's face lit up. “That's a great idea.”
“I bet some of the neighbors would pay you to wash theirs, too. It's getting colder and no one wants to wash the cars themselves.” Greg looked his brother in the eye.
Michael nodded. The air was cold. He shivered(打寒颤) at the thought of washing cars and getting wet in this cold weather. “Maybe this isn't a good idea.”
Greg placed his hand on Michael’ s shoulder. “I have some golf gloves that are designed for wet, cold weather. I' ll loan you a pair, and I' ll even help you wash the cars.”“Really You'd help me and let me keep the money ”“Sure. Golf season is over. I won't need the extra cash for a while.” Greg disappeared inside the house.
Michael asked his parents if he could wash their cars for a small fee. When they agreed,he asked some neighbors, too. Three more agreed. Michael got a bucket, some sponges(海绵), towels and soap. Greg came back outside with the gloves. “Here you go. They’ ll keep your hands warm and dry.”“Thanks.” Michael still couldn't believe his brother was helping him earn the money like this.
