Recently I was asked, “Is there a song that has changed you ” Well, as a music therapist (治疗专家), I work a lot with songs. Songs, and music in general, are a great tool to help people manage emotional problems. I have shared many songs with people who are suffering or hurting. However, the song that stands out the most to me is Let It Be.
Two years ago, I finally got to see Paul McCartney, live, in concert. At about 80 years old, Sir Paul performed nonstop for three hours. And he sounded great. As a music therapist, I use the Beatles’ songs more than just about anything else. Their songs are emotionally layered and timeless. So many of their songs are perfect as a vehicle for emotional expression and an outlet for those reflecting on life and death.
Toward the end of the concert Paul sat down at the piano and sang Let It Be. Everyone around me was singing and smiling. At that moment, a sudden wave of almost uncontrollable and unexpected emotions washed over me. I was suddenly thinking about life — my life, the people in my life, and... music. I was thinking about all the patients I’ve worked with and the music that we’ve shared — music that helped bring some comfort when they were hurting the most. Let It Be fits so perfectly with those who are struggling to come to terms with acceptance and are preparing for what comes next. Those coming to terms with having to, well... finally let it be.
Now, every time I hear this song or sing this song, I feel lucky. Lucky that I was able to bring music to so many who needed something… to help with resolve, to help with comfort, to help them prepare to finally let it be. And I feel lucky that I get to be a part of the true healing (治愈) power of music for so many who need it the most. Including me.

Lightning(闪电) strikes more than eight million times a day worldwide. That’s about 93 times per second. What a phenomenon!
How hot is a lightning bolt About 50, 000°F-five times hotter than the surface of the sun. Yes, it really can rain frogs, fish, and other decidedly odd things. It’s a rare meteorological(气象学的) event, but scientists say strong winds from a tornado or from a storm can be powerful enough to drive animals and objects high into the air, and they have to comedown eventually.
It is a bad idea to take a shower during a thunderstorm. If lightning hits your house, it can travel through your plumbing(管道设备) and shock anyone who comes into contact with water flowing through it. People have been shocked or killed while bathing, washing dishes and clothes. This is also why indoor pools often close during storms. Rubber tires are not what protect you from lightning when you’re in your car. You’re protected because when lightning hits a car, it travels around the outside of the metal structure to get to the ground. Just be careful not to touch any metal areas inside.
Lightning can strike the same place twice—and it often does, especially objects that are tall, pointy, and separated. The Empire State Building, for example, is hit almost 100 times a year, according to the CDC.
You can be struck by lightning even when it’s no training. About 10 percent of lightning strikes take place when there’s no rainfall. In the 1980s, NASA flew one airplane through 1.496 thunderstorms. It was struck by lightning more than 700 times. Today, a commercial airplane will be hit by lightning about once a year on average, typically with no ill effects. It has been decades since a U.S. airliner has crashed as a result of a lightning strike.
To deal with such a frequent phenomenon, every day, twice a day, weather trackers, at the same time, launch giant balloons from almost 900 locations worldwide. The balloons measure above ground weather data such as temperature, humidity(湿气), and wind speed, and they provide vital information that meteorologists use to make forecasts and predict lightning.

Whoever says fast food is unhealthy for the body and the environment hasn’t been introduced to Sweetgreen, a chain restaurant devoted to changing how we view food production, consumption and waste.
In 2007, when three recent college graduates were tired of having to choose between slow and expensive food options or food that was fast but unhealthy, they made a commitment to offering quality and convenient food as a better option.
Openness is at the very foundation of the company. With dozens of locations and more scheduled openings happening soon, Sweetgreen’s messaging is consistent across the board. At the top of the list of items customers can expect is fresh ingredients (食材) that are locally sourced and organic whenever possible. To provide localized information, Sweetgreen restaurants post a source board. Online, customers can see specials that highlight local food, such as Lobster Roll Salad in Boston, Garlic Chili Shrimp bowl in Houston and Citrus Shrimp and Avocado in Miami.
While not every small farm can shoulder the costs of going fully organic, Sweetgreen focuses on selecting foods that are regionally sourced and sustainably grown. “As restaurant leaders in an industry that drives 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions (排放物), it is our responsibility to use our platform and resources to handle this crisis head-on,” said co-founder Nathaniel Ru.
With this baseline, it plans to reduce emissions up and down the pipeline, which requires a focused look at where and how food is grown or raised. Sweetgreen partners with food providers who share its decarbonization mission. From there, Sweetgreen takes the carbon reduction process in-house with attention to developing menus that are highly plant-based rather than rich in animal products.
“The choices everyone makes about what they eat, where it comes from, and how it’s prepared have a direct and powerful impact on the health of individuals, communities and the environment,” said Ru. Today, with the future of the planet at risk, these words have never rang truer.
