When I was a boy there were no smart phones, computers were something you saw on STAR TREK(星际航行), and our television only got one channel clearly. Still, I was never bored. The fields, hills, and woodlands around my home were the perfect playgrounds whose adventures were only limited by my imagination. I can remember once hiking to a nearby lake and slowly walking around it. At the backside of it I was amazed to find an old dirt road that I had never seen before. I immediately set out to travel it. It was full of muddy tire tracks and deep woods bordered it on both sides, but exploring it still seemed like a fine adventure.
I walked on and on for what seemed like hours. I was sure my guardian angel was whispering(低语) in my ear to turn around and head back home, but I was stubborn(顽固)and even a bit stupid, so I walked on. The dirt road gave way to a stone one and then a paved one, yet there was still neither a car nor a house in sight. My legs were getting tired. I noticed that the sun was starting to go down and I grew scared. I didn’t want to end up trapped on this road in the dark of night, but I was worried it would be dark before I could make my way back to the lake again.
I continued to walk on with the something growing inside of me. My heart was pounding and my legs were aching. I was almost in tears when I turned one last curve(弯曲处) and saw something in the distance. It was a house that I knew. My heart leapt up! I jumped up and down and laughed out loud. I knew the way home! It was still over a mile away but my legs felt like feathers and I hurried back to my house. I walked in with a big smile on my face just in time for dinner. Then I ended my adventure with a good night’s sleep.
I often thought of that experience recently. Actually, in our life, all roads, no matter how they twist and turn(迂回曲折), can lead us home again. They can lead us to our homes here on Earth. They can lead us to our homes in our hearts. May you always walk your path with love. May you always help your fellow travelers along the way. And may your roads always lead you Home again.

A. No pain, no gain B. East, or West, Home is best

The characteristic (特征) of shyness is to feel frightened and nervous in new social situations or when being the center of attention. Whether shyness is part of your children’s personality or just something they feel when they are in front of a group of strangers, it is a common experience, according to a study.
To look at shyness, researchers brought 152 children aged 7-8 into a lab and told them they would give a speech, which would be filmed and shown to other children. The study showed that about 10% of the children showed a level of stress over time when giving the speech. About 25% of the children were not reported to be shy in the eyes of their parents, but in fact showed a level of social stress from giving the speech. This finding provides the fact that shyness may be a part of these children’s temperament (性情).
For children at this age, shyness may be a quite common experience when they face a speech task. For a smaller group of shy children, however, being the center of attention may be stressful at different times and environments.
A shy temperament isn’t always valued by society like an outgoing personality, but that doesn’t mean there is something wrong. Everyone can feel shy at times depending on the environment. And those who are shy often have happy social lives—they just aren’t likely(可能)to be the liveliest people in a crowded room.
Although shyness itself may not necessarily be a problem, parents should pay attention to signs of worry in their shy children. Importantly, however, we know that not all shy children are the same, and that many shy children grow up to be well-balanced adults.
28.What can we learn from paragraph 1
A.Shyness is not an unusual characteristic. B.Shyness is born with personality.
C.Shyness will appear when one is in public. D.Shyness means not communicating with others.
29.What is the finding of the study
A.Few kids like to give a speech to others. B.Some kids can get shy while giving speeches.
C.Some kids appear less shy with their parents. D.Some kids are stressed when being separated.
30.What does the author advise parents to do when facing shy children
A.Bring them to crowded space. B.Care for them and give them confidence.
C.Keep them away from shyness. D.Let them be alone.
31.What can be the best title for the text
A.When are people shy B.Ways of beating shyness
C.Why is shyness a bad thing D.The discoveries about shyness
D
On December 26, 2004, an earthquake along the Indian Ocean caused a huge tsunami that killed thousands of people in Asia and East Africa. However, wildlife officials at Sri Lanka's Yala National Park reported no mass animal deaths. Yala National Park is home to hundreds of wild animals.
Some researchers believe the animals at the park were able to sense the earthquake and moved to higher ground before the earthquake hit. Animals have good senses that help protect themselves from being hunted by their natural enemies. It is thought that their senses might also help them sense the coming disasters. Several countries have done research on the prediction (预测) of earthquakes by animals. There are two theories(理论)about how animals may be able to sense earthquakes. One theory is that animals sense the earth's shake. The other is that they can sense changes in the air. However, so far there has been no strong evidence(证据)about how animals may be able to sense earthquakes.
Other researchers have doubt about using animals for earthquake predictions. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) officially states, "Changes in animal behaviors cannot be used to predict earthquakes. Even though there have been many cases of unusual animal behaviors before earthquakes, a connection between a specific behavior and an earthquake has not been made. Because of their fine senses, animals can often feel the earthquake at its earliest stages(阶段)before the humans. That's why people say that the animal knew the earthquake was coming. But animals can also change their behaviors for many other reasons. If an earthquake can shake millions of people, it is likely that a few of their pets will, by chance, be acting strangely before the earthquake.”
Although scientists disagree on whether animal behaviors can be used to predict earthquakes, they all agree that it is possible for animals to sense changes in the environment before humans. Researchers around the world are continuing to study the connection between animal behaviors and earthquakes. It is hoped that these studies will help to predict earthquakes.
32. What can we know about animals' senses
A. They are not trusted B. They can change the environment.
C. They can protect animals in some ways. D. They can prevent animals acting strangely.
33. What does the USGS mean
A. Animals change behaviors for many reasons.
B. Animal behaviors can predict earthquakes.
C. Animal behaviors are closely related to earthquakes.
D. Our pets can't sense earthquakes.
34. Which word best describes the author's attitude to scientists' study
A. Disappointed. B. Hopeful. C. Uninterested. D. Skeptical.
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. How Earthquakes Cause Tsunami B. Why Animals Change Behaviors
C. Can Animals Predict Earthquakes D. What Functions Animals' Senses Have

40. 答案:F
细节句。根据空前的“bad weather”“it rains or the weather turns colder”以及空后的“a jacket that breathes and a light hat you can use on sunny or rainy days”可知,本段与天气和衣服有关,故 F 项“没有坏天气,只有选错了的衣服”符合语境。故选 F。

Dear Richard,
How is everything going Given that you take an interest in my plan to travel to Beijing with my family, I'm glad to share it with you.
We are scheduled to fly to our destination in January. Upon arrival, we will visit the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City, because of its unique royal palace status and impressive architectural style. The following day, we are going to the Great Wall with a long history and superb construction. On the last day, we will wander around hutong in Beijing to experience its traditional culture and have a good taste of the local snacks.
Why not join us I'm sure it won't disappoint you. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
听力文本
(Text 1)
M: Hey, Lucy. I want to go for a hike in the mountains. Do you want to come with me
W: Jack and I planned to go swimming this weekend.
(Text 2)
M: I wonder why the post office is still not open. I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes.
W: It’s ten past eight. You’ll have to wait for 20 more minutes before it opens.
(Text 3)
W: What’s the best way to downtown
M: If you are in a hurry, you should take a taxi. If you are not, take a bus then.
W: I’m in no particularly hurry.
(Text 4)
M: The newspaper says it’ll be cloudy and rainy today. What do you think
W: I don’t believe it. Look! The sun is out. There’s not one cloud in the sky.
(Text 5)
M: How are you getting on with the schedules
W: I just have one more message to send. Have you got anything else for me to do
M: Yes, here are some notes for you to type out.
(Text 6)
M: This is a very special and expensive plant. It’s from Brazil.
W: It’s so beautiful. I think I’m going to buy this plant. How much sunlight does it need
M: Put it near a window, but don’t put it in direct light. Also, when the plant grows flowers, make sure you don’t let it get too cold!
W: I am not very good at taking care of plants, but this one looks so perfect that I’m going to be very careful.
(Text 7)
M: Good afternoon, everyone. I’m glad to introduce Ms Linda Smith, who is famous for painting stones. Linda, when did you begin painting stones
W: Actually, I started around six months ago. I happened to find some smooth stones on the beach and I brought them home and began to paint on them. I was amazed that they looked so beautiful, so I continued.
M: What kind of pictures do you paint
W: I usually paint an animal or a scene from a place that I have been to. Look at this painting of a Swiss village. On this stone, you can see my neighbour’s cat.
M: They are so colourful! They look so detailed, even though they are on such a tiny stone.
(Text 8)
M: Hi, Jenny! I’m so happy to see you again.
W: Me, too! It’s been almost three years since we met in Canada.
M: So, how has everything been going
W: I really don’t know where to start. I worked as a computer programmer in Canada for eight months and then I went to China and did some editing work for China Daily for about two years. I’ve just come back to Britain for a reporter job.
M: Oh! Good luck!
W: Thank you!
(Text 9)
M: I really enjoy living in this quiet place.
W: Me too, but this is always a problem for our visitors.
M: Yes. That’s because we actually live between two villages.
W: And the street doesn’t have a name.
M: So when we have visitors, we tell people when they’re on the main road to turn right at the bus stop.
W: Yeah. Then cross the bridge and go up the hill.
M: And then go down the other side and then turn left at the pear tree. There is a pear tree in the middle of the road.
W: Yes. They always spot that and then our house is the first house on the right-hand side.
M: Well, we think that’s simple, isn’t it But people still get lost. Remember Sue
W: Yeah. She followed a map on her phone instead of listening to our directions.
M: And she went round and round for ages.
(Text 10)
M: Hello. My name is Dave Bums, and I’m here to tell you about the welcoming party we are having for new students. The information on our invitations has mistakes. We didn’t have enough time to print new invitations, so I’ll have to ask you to make changes. To start with, this isn’t a welcoming lunch; it’s a dancing party. However, the next line is true. The party will be held at Blackwell House. The next line tells you when the party will be: Friday, June 15th at 8 p.m., but I have good news: the party will end at 11 p.m. Some of you may prefer to travel by car, but I have to warn you about some changes to the roads. You will find Smith Street under repair. Blackwell Street is very long. You should avoid the corner of Blackwell Street and Jones Avenue, because traffic jams often take place there. The best thing to do is take the first road on your left which is Brown Street. It will lead you into the college grounds, so that’s easy. I hope everyone has a great time.
