Among them, the Rongchang folding fan, which is from Chongqing’s Rongchang District, is one of the most famous. In 2008, it was listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
②The history of Rongchang folding fans dates back to the Ming Dynasty. At that time, Rongchang became a centre for handmade fan production because of its high-quality bamboo and skilled workers. Over time, the fans have become well-known for being strong and beautiful.

④Making each fan requires over 70 steps, including cutting and painting. Workers usually spend years learning these skills to make sure the fans meet high standards (标准).

In the 1960s, a musical group composed a popular song called Monday, Monday: “Every other day of the week is fine, yeah. But whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time.” When talking about days of the week, Monday gets little expectation(期待）. I asked friends which day of the week they like the least, and 90 percent of my friends chose Monday. Not one person thought of Monday as his or her favourite day. ①

The sun hung low, brushing gold over the empty area. The air buzzed (喧闹)—not with insects, but with voices, cameras, and the weight of something about to begin.
