Maybe we did not feel it at that time. But in September, there was a shaking (摇晃) under our feet for more than a week. Now, scientists find that it is because of global (全球) warming.
The shaking came from Earth’s crust, it is the shell of earth, just like the skin of an apple. It lasted for nine days and went across the whole world.
The study shows that it started in eastern Greenland. Because of global warming,at the
foot of a mountain, the ice got thin. It couldn’t carry the rocks (岩石) on it, and the 1,200-meter-high mountain came into small pieces. The rocks all fell down into the sea. This made a really big tsunami (海啸). It was about 110 meters high. Over the next few days, the water moved back and ahead, hitting the cliffs (崖壁).

Money management skill is very important for us, but many parents don’t take time to teach their children about the value of money, and unfortunately, many of those children grow up to be adults who struggles with money management skill.
What age should parents begin educating their children about money. Financial experts agree that it’s never too early. The more children learn about money, the more they will be able to make wise financial decisions as they grow older. First, parents can begin teaching young children how to count money. It is very important for young child.
Next, you can teach the value of saving. Once they learn that saving is a good idea and that it is something they should always do, their financial future will be brighter. For example, your child wants a new bicycle. You can teach them to save part of their allowance for that bike, while still keeping money for ice cream, or for going to the movies with their friends. In this way they will begin to understand the value of both short-term saving and long-term saving.
It’s never too early, also, to teach your child different ways to make money. For example, they can sweep the floor, wash dishes and so on. Sit down with your children and talk with them in some ways they would like to earn money. You’ll be surprised and glad at the effort they will begin making.
Help your children chart their financial course in life, teach them basic money management skills, and their future will be brighter.

D Why do We Yawn
Do you yawn There are about 20 reasons that scientists think are possible for yawning after research. They do not know exactly why yawning happens, but they do know many facts about yawning.
We know that everyone yawns in the same way. First you open your mouth slowly. Your mouth stays open for about five seconds. You take in a lot of air and then push it out. Then you quickly close your mouth. We also know that yawning is contagious. When you see someone yawn, you yawn, too.
Many people say they yawn because they are bored or tired. That might be true. People do often yawn before they sleep and after they wake up. However, we know that people also yawn when they are excited or nervous. Olympic runners, for example, often yawn before a race. Why is that In 2007, scientists found that a yawn can help a warm brain cool down.
Some scientists believe that yawning makes you notice things more quickly. When you yawn, you breathe deeply. You also stretch (强化) the muscles (肌肉) in your face, mouth, and neck. Your eardrums stretch, too. Maybe this helps you to be quicker to notice things.
In some countries, people think yawning is not nice. People put their hands over their mouths to cover a yawn. In other countries, people think yawning is healthy. They think that opening the mouth very big can let good things in. When they breathe out, they think that bad things go out of the body with the air.
Scientists do not spend much time studying yawning. That is probably because yawning does not hurt. It is just something we do.

七、任务型阅读 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
There are many top students around us. Let us take Carter as an example. He is the monitor of my class. He often spends a lot of time working for our class. But he is still good at all the subjects. How do students like Carter do that When I ask him, he tells me, “Hard work is not the whole story. It’s not how long you sit at the desk with your books open. It’s what you do when you are sitting.” In fact, we can see many top students spend fewer hours on their studies than their classmates. Carter gives us some useful advice.
Do more than you are asked
If your math teacher gives you four problems, you should do five. If your Chinese teacher gives you six pages of reading, you should read seven. If you practice more, you will be better at the subject.
Choose suitable ways
Studying is a matter of your own interest, so choose the way you enjoy. Some students like studying early in the morning. Some students like studying at night when the house is quiet. Some students like studying as soon as they arrive home from school, because the work is fresh in their minds. No matter which way suits you, try to do your best.
Put studying before entertainment (娱乐)
Studying is your business and the business comes before entertainment. When you are studying, you shouldn’t use phones or watch TV shows. It’s a waste of time. It’s not a good idea to have snacks, either. Studying should be the only thing in your mind. Nothing can pull your attention away from what you are studying.
Plan your time well
Studying is like eating. You should eat a little at a time. You can plan what to do today, but don’t do too much at a time. You may feel unhappy or stressed without finishing your plan. However, you will not study well without a good plan. It all depends on how you plan your time.
Keep your papers clean
If your papers are clean and tidy, you may be already half way to get an A.Tidy papers can help you get higher marks than messy ones. When you write clearly and do your work carefully, the thoughts in your mind are clear. You are able to make fewer mistakes.
How many pieces of advice does Carter give us on how to study well
