Last week, a small group of people from Mapleview, followed by Recreation Department workers and family members,went on their weekly trip, said Grandinetti, an activity helper at the long-term care home.
“These outings are a chance for people to go in for the community, " Grandinetti explained to Village Report. These trips often include visits to the mall or local restaurants. On this special day, the group took the ParaBus to have lunch at the Husky Restaurant on Trunk Road.
The old people,most of whom are on fixed incomes, usually pay for their meals themselves or have the cost covered by a family member. However, this outing took an unexpected turn when it came time to pay.
“When we asked for our bills, the waitress told us that a gentleman who had been sitting nearby left $100 to cover the people's meals, ”Grandinetti said. “The waitress was pleased to share the news, and the people were excited.”
“He had already left,so we couldn't thank him in person, but the people were overjoyed and amazed by him. It will encourage more people to be kind, ”Grandinetti said.

In an attempt to help students further experience traditional Chinese culture, our school conducted an activity called “Wearing Hanfu and Learning Calligraphy” last Saturday in the Student Service Center.
With over 150 students from three grades involved, this cultural event began with everyone trying on traditional Han-style clothing. After learning the basics of Chinese brush calligraphy, participants not only displayed their own creations but also shared reflections on the experience. The day concluded with photos to preserve these special memories.
The activity turned out to be a great success and it was highly approved by most of the participants.
