China’s Double 11 online shopping festival is now getting greener. It has become a test field where some companies are trying to make a difference in lower carbon emissions.
In 2021, Tmall gave out 100 million yuan worth of shopping vouchers (代金券). The company encouraged people to buy green products with the vouchers. JD.com also joined in the activity. There were more than 150 million green products at the shopping festival. Besides, JD.com said it would choose cleaner transportation to make the world greener.
ZTO Express also took some action to achieve the goal last year. It handed out more than 11 million recyclable bags, taking the place of about 1.16 billion disposable (一次性的) bags. It was helpful in saving our environment. At the same time, Cainiao gave out 7.5 million eggs to people who took part in the box recycling activity. On the one hand, the old bags can be recycled and on the other hand, customers can get something useful in their daily lives.
There are also signs that customers are becoming “greener” in their shopping habits. For example, most people only buy things they really need instead of the things they already have. “During the Double 11, I bought a coffee maker that is much cheaper than on normal days. The activity of getting new ones with old products can help us avoid wasting money,” said Bi Xin, a customer in Shenzhen.

“BANG!” the door was shut loudly. It was just standing there, with my father standing on one side, and I on the other side.
We were both in great anger. “Never set foot in this house again!” my father said angrily. With tears in my eyes, I rushed out of the flat and ran along the street.
I didn’t know whether it was because I had grown up or because my dad was getting old. He always put his opinions on me. We were just like two people in two different worlds. It felt like there was an iron door between us that could never be opened.
My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on, there were fewer and fewer people on the streets. When I finally reached my house, I saw that the light was still on.
“Perhaps my dad is throwing away some of his old stamps,” I thought. “Perhaps he thinks they are useless.” I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps.
All the lights were off except my father’s.
Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any moments of regret. This was how he always was. He had been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do had become his second nature.
The light was still on. With the key in hand, I opened the door nervously. When I opened the door, tears ran down my face. I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist(存在).

Dear Henry,
I learn that you are concerned too much about your study and that results in your worries.
First, you should learn how to relax yourself. I think doing more sports is good for your health. Listening to music is also a good way to relax. And I think it’s necessary to have healthy eating habits. Please remember to have breakfast every morning. It can give you enough energy to study for the whole morning. We should have enough vegetables and we eat meat in moderation. You’d better go to bed early and have enough sleep. It will keep you active during the day. Drinking a little hot milk before going to bed can help you sleep. Finally I think you should talk with your friends, parents or teachers often. Tell them about your thoughts and feelings. Try to get help from them.
I hope you can stay in good spirits, and study better.
Yours,
Jack
