High School Curriculum
In North America, many schools allow students to choose which courses they want to take. Chinese is increasingly being taught as a foreign language in Western high schools. However, in North America by far, the most popular foreign languages taught in high schools are French and Spanish.
Sports Teams
Entry into school sports teams (as well as cheerleading teams) can be quite competitive. Many people try out for the teams, but fail to get on them because they lack the skills or athleticism.
Soup Kitchens
Soup kitchens are common in North America. They exist to provide food for homeless or poor people. Even though they are called soup kitchens, many no longer serve soup. They serve food that is like that eaten in many people’s homes.
