Electric vehicles (EVs) are changing the way we travel by offering a cleaner choice to traditional gasoline cars. Unlike gasoline engines that burn fuel and release harmful gases, EVs use rechargeable batteries to power an electric motor. This motor turns the wheels without producing harmful gases, making EVs much better for the environment. Charging an EV is as simple as plugging it into a charging station or even a home outlet. Some advanced models can even store energy back into the battery when slowing down, which improves efficiency.
One of the biggest advantages of EVs is their positive impact on air quality and climate change. Gasoline cars release carbon dioxide and other pollutants, contributing to global warming. In contrast, EVs produce zero emissions while driving. Countries like Norway are leading the way-over 80% of new cars sold there are electric, and the government plans to ban gasoline car sales by 2025. This change has already helped reduce Norway’s carbon footprint significantly.
However, challenges remain. Many areas still lack enough charging stations, making long-distance travel difficult for EV owners. Additionally, producing EV batteries requires rare materials like lithium, and recycling old batteries is technically panies and governments are working to solve these issues. For example, Tesla is expanding its global charging network, and researchers are developing cheaper, eco-friendly battery materials.
Looking ahead, the future of EVs is promising. Governments worldwide are encouraging their use through tax cuts and subsidies. China, the largest EV market, aims to build 10 million charging stations by 2030. Technological advancements are also making EVs more affordable and efficient. New batteries can now travel over 300 miles on a single charge, easing concerns about range.
While difficulties exist, EVs represent a key step toward sustainable transportation. By adopting this technology, we can reduce pollution and create a healthier planet for future generations. The road ahead may be long, but with continued innovation and support, electric vehicles will play a key role in building a greener world.
29.What is the main advantage of electric vehicles compared to gasoline cars
A.Lower maintenance costs. B.Faster speed.
C.More attractive design. D.More environmentally friendly.
30.What can we infer from the fact that over 80% of new cars sold in Norway are electric
A.The government’s efforts in promoting EVs are effective.
B.Norway has no problem with air pollution
C.Norway people don’t like gasoline cars at all
D.Norway has the most advanced technology in making EVs
31.According to the third paragraph, which of the following is NOT a problem for electric vehicles
A.Lack of enough charging stations in many areas
B.The complex recycling process of old EV batteries.
C.The complete global charging network for EVs.
D.The need for rare materials like lithium in producing EV batteries.
32.What is the author’s attitude towards electric vehicles
A.Doubtful. B.Positive. C.Negative. D.Indifferent.

In China, many parents have high expectations for their kids. They ask children to study hard, follow strict rules, and think about their future. 41 These hopes are often forgotten.
First, kids want love and kindness, not just good grades. 42 A boy from Shanghai said, “I wish my mom would ask if I’m okay, not just about my test results.” A simple hug or saying “We can try again” can help more than shouting.
Second, children need respect. 43 For example, checking their phones without asking or laughing at their hobbies (like drawing or games) makes them upset. A girl wrote online, “My dad says my stories are useless, but writing makes me happy.”
Also, kids hope parents can be good examples. 44 A student wrote, “I work hard, but why doesn’t Mom ever read a book with me ”
Love should go both ways. Parents want children to succeed, but children want understanding, respect and parents who grow with them. 45 Happy parents make happier kids.
A.They want parents to trust them and give them space.
B.It feels unfair when parents say “Study!” but always use their phones.
C.But children also have hopes for their parents.
D.Families should talk about each other’s needs.
E.When parents get angry about low scores or say “Look at other kids,” children feel sad.

Last week, a survey on study pressure was carried out among Grade 9 students in our school. Many students find it hard to manage time properly. They are often overwhelmed by a large amount of homework and lack a reasonable schedule. Also, some students haven’t adopted effective learning methods, making their study less efficient.
In my view, first, making a detailed plan is crucial. It helps allocate time for different subjects and rest. Second, explore suitable learning methods, like summarizing key points and making mind-maps. Additionally, take breaks during study to relax. With these ways, we can better handle study pressure.
