Passage 1(Unit 5 Going on an exchange trip)
文章内容:谈论交流访学
Now, exchange trips are getting more and more popular with students. Many young people want to go on these trips. They think it’s a great chance to see new places, meet new people, and learn things they can’t get from books.
Before you go, it’s good to get ready in your mind. Try to be open to new things. Remember, life in another country might be different from home—and that’s okay! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes when you speak the new language. It’s part of learning. Also, be ready to try things you’ve never done before, like eating strange-looking food or joining a new game.
Exchange trips have many wonderful benefits. First, they help you learn a new language better. In your daily life, you have to use the language: talking to your host family, buying snacks at the store, or asking for directions. This is much more useful than just studying words in a classroom. You’ll get better at speaking and listening quickly.
Second, you’ll learn a lot about other cultures. You can eat local food (maybe spicy or sweet, different from yours!), watch how people celebrate festivals, or see how families live. This makes you understand that the world is full of different ways of life, and that’s interesting.
Third, you’ll become more independent. You might need to plan your own time, solve small problems (like forgetting your way home), or take care of yourself when you feel a little sad. Doing these things makes you stronger and more confident.
However, there are some things to pay attention to. One common challenge is culture shock. For example, local customs might be very different from what you’re used to—maybe people greet each other in a strange way, or food tastes completely new. To deal with this, it’s helpful to learn about the country’s culture before the trip. You can read books, watch videos, or talk to people who have been there. Keeping an open mind and trying to understand instead of judging will also make it easier to fit in.
Exchange trips are amazing experiences. They help you learn languages, know more about the world, and grow into a stronger person. With a little preparation, you’ll have a great time and make memories that last forever.
1.Why do exchange trips help improve language skills better than classroom study
A. Classroom teachers are not as qualified as local people.
B. Students have to use the language in real-life situations daily.
C. Foreign countries have better language learning resources.
D. There are no exams during exchange trips.
2. What is NOT mentioned as a way to deal with culture shock
A. Learning about the country’s culture before the trip.
B. Reading books and watching videos about the country.
C. Avoiding talking to local people to reduce misunderstandings.
D. Keeping an open mind and trying to understand local custom
3.What can we know from the passage?
A. Exchange trips can help students understand and respect cultural differences.
B. Culture shock is easy to avoid with no preparation.
C. Host families will solve all problems for exchange students.
D. Students need to be perfect in a foreign language before the trip.
4.What is the main idea of the passage
A. How to choose a good exchange program.
B. The advantages and considerations of exchange trips.
C. The history of student exchange programs.
D. Why classroom learning is less effective than travel.

Passage 2(Unit 6 Wisdom counts)
文章内容:谈论智慧故事
In Ancient Arab, there were many fables (传说), and people could learn a lot by reading the stories. Here is a story about wisdom. Long ago, a young prince had just recently become a king. In order to rule his kingdom, he decided to learn all the wisdom of the world. Therefore, he gathered all the wise men from his kingdom and abroad and ordered them to look for books for him to read and learn from.
Five years passed quickly. The wise men returned with their camels, carrying 5,000 books full of wisdom. Seeing so many books, the king was so shocked that he didn’t know how to start. Then one day he had an idea—he ordered the wise men to condense all the 5,000 books and bring them back to him.
Another five years passed. The wise men again went to see the king, this time bringing 500 books, but the king still thought there were too many books for him to read.
Five more years passed. The wise men brought back 50 books. At this time, the king was troubled with many problems, but he still felt there were too many books.
During the next five years, the wise man worked hard to condense the 50 books into one book and presented it to the king. The king took no interest in reading this book, nor did he have time to learn from it. More problems broke out in his kingdom—his enemies endlessly attacked and diseases spread all over his country and many of his people became ill. He did not have the wisdom to solve these problems. He did not know what to do!
Waiting for wisdom to come to you is just a way of being lazy. If there is no action, there can be no gain. Only if we set out to seek (寻找) wisdom can we make a difference.

B. To make the price of books lower.
C. To put much information into a small space.
D. To make the books easier than ever.
3. How many years did it take to condense 500 books into one book
A. 5 years. B. 10 years. C. 15 years. D. 20 years.
4. What can we learn from this passage
A. Time and tide wait for no man.
B. Wisdom can make a country strong.
C. Wisdom won’t come to you by itself.
D. The meaning of living is to find wisdom.

Passage 3(Unit 7 The secret of memory)
文章内容:谈论我们的记忆技巧
Think of a simple object—a piece of chalk, for example. Are you remembering its name, its shape, its color or its size Are you remembering what it is used for, or the sound it makes when the teacher writes on the blackboard Scientists say that memory includes different parts of the brain, such as language and the ability of sense. They believe that you begin to create a memory when you notice something you’re your senses. Then messages are sent to different brain cells which join together to form connections. A new connection goes into your short-term memory. It is stored there for about 30 seconds, and then it is either lost or stored in your long-term memory.
Having a good memory means making lots of connections and storing them in your long-term memory. To do this, you need to keep your brain in good shape. Eat plenty of brain food such as fish oil, fruit and vegetables. Laughter also makes your brain more active. Also, don’t forget to exercise. So do some sports or just move around a lot in the house. Finally, get plenty of sleep. This will make your memories grow stronger.
When you want to remember new information, you must pay special attention. Use your senses—sight, smell, hearing and touching and keep repeating the information. To do well in your exams this year, turn off the TV, silence your mobile, and review your work regularly. To remember something special, use your imagination to create visual(视觉的) connections. For example, you need to take a pencil, an eraser, your ID card and chips to your next exam. Imagine the ID card as the body of an animal, the pencil its long neck, and the eraser its head. Your animal is hungry, so now imagine it eating a bag of chips. It may sound crazy, but its fun and it works. Another way is to do something different to your room. Turn a picture upside-down, or tie a sock around the door handle to remind yourself of something to remember.
1. At the beginning, the writer gives an example to ________.
A. lead in the topic of the article B. show the importance of chalk
C. let readers remember the word D. make readers know his favorite
2. How many ways are mentioned to have a good memory in Paragraph 2
A. 2 B. 3 C. 4 D. 5
3. The main idea of the third paragraph is ________.
A. how to do well in exams B. how to remember new information
C. why to review your work D. what to eat to make memories stronger
4. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. Memory has nothing to do with languages. B. Laughter can help to improve our memory.

Passage 4(Unit 8 Pets and us)
文章内容:宠物
In our lives, pets have become much more than just animals that share our homes. They are cherished companions, offering unconditional love and support that enriches our daily existence in profound ways.
Dogs, often hailed as “man’s best friend,” are a prime example of the deep-seated bond between pets and humans. From the moment a puppy enters a family, it begins to form an emotional connection. They greet us with wagging tails and excited barks after a long day at work, instantly lifting our spirits. Dogs are not only great for companionship but also serve practical purposes. Service dogs, for instance, assist people with disabilities, whether it’s guiding the blind, alerting those with hearing impairments to sounds, or providing support to individuals with mobility issues. Their loyalty makes them invaluable partners in these roles.
Cats, with their independent yet affectionate nature, also hold a special place in many households. A purring cat curled up on our laps can bring a sense of calm and relaxation. They may seem aloof at times, but their gentle nuzzles and soft meows when they seek attention show their love for their human companions. Cats can also be great for reducing stress. Studies have shown that interacting with a cat can lower blood pressure and ease anxiety.
Small pets like rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters, though less commonly thought of in terms of close relationships, also offer unique forms of companionship. They may be more timid, but with patience and gentle handling, they can become comfortable around their owners. Watching these small creatures go about their daily activities, such as nibbling on food or playing in their cages, can be a source of simple joy.
The relationship between pets and humans is a two-way street. We provide them with food, shelter, and medical care, while they offer us emotional support, a reason to be more active (especially in the case of dogs that need walks), and a sense of purpose. In fact, for many people living alone, a pet can be their main source of social interaction.
However, this special bond also comes with responsibilities. We need to ensure that our pets are healthy, happy, and well-cared for. This includes regular vet check-ups, proper nutrition, and sufficient exercise (where applicable). In return, the love and loyalty our pets give us make all the efforts worthwhile.
In conclusion, the relationship between pets and humans is a beautiful and essential part of our lives. It teaches us about love, responsibility, and the simple pleasures that come from sharing our world with another living being. Whether it’s a dog, a cat, or a small furry friend, these pets become an integral part of our families, and their presence makes our lives more fulfilling.
1. Why are dogs often called “man’s best friend”
A. Because they are the most popular pets.
B. Because they can perform various tasks for humans.
C. Because they offer unconditional love and practical assistance.
D. Because they are easy to train.
2. How do cats help reduce stress
A. By always being affectionate and clingy.
B. By purring and seeking attention in a gentle way.
C. By playing energetic games with their owners.
D. By being independent and not demanding much attention.
3. What is the significance (重要性) of small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs in human-pet relationships
A. They are mainly for show and decoration.
B. They offer unique forms of companionship and simple joy.
C. They are more intelligent than other pets.
D. They require very little care compared to dogs and cats.
4. What does the author mean by “the relationship between pets and humans is a two-way street”
A. Pets and humans should walk on the street together.
B. Both pets and humans should be trained.
C. Humans should only focus on taking care of pets.
D. Pets give and get care and love from humans.
【答案】1. C 2. B 3. B 4. D

Passage 1(考题猜想)
Today, teachers find themselves in a challenging position regarding generative AI. As schools often adapt slowly to new technology, this new wave has raised an important question: Will AI help make education fairer, or will it create even bigger gaps in our schools
We have been studying how public school teachers feel about using generative AI. Our research showed that poor training and unclear guidance could make existing differences among schools even worse.
We interviewed 22 teachers in a large public school district in the US that started using AI early and with great excitement. Many teachers said AI saved them hours of work each week. One teacher even called it a “thought partner” that reduces stress and lets them focus on what matters most: their students.
However, not everyone felt ready to use AI well. Some teachers said they did not have enough training to understand AI or use it properly in their lessons.
Past research on new technologies showed a clear pattern: Schools with fewer resources, especially those serving disadvantaged students, are usually the least prepared to help teachers make the most of new technologies. Meanwhile, well-resourced schools are much more likely to offer training. As a result, new technologies often make the education gap wider.
Our research also emphasized another point, which is especially important in the age of AI: Teaching is built on human relationships. As one middle school teacher said, a machine can provide information, but most kids need a social environment and a caring teacher to guide them. Teachers are crucial in determining how and whether AI, like all new technologies, is used to support their teaching and student learning. Studies show that schools with more resources can help teachers use technologies to make their connection with students stronger instead of weakening it. That's why we believe the choices we make about AI right now will have a huge impact on fairness in education.
1. What can we know about the 22 teachers interviewed
A. Most of them considered AI a threat to their teaching jobs
B. They all received sufficient training on using AI in lessons
C. Many of them benefited from using generative AI in their work
D. They thought AI could completely replace teachers’ guidance for students
2. We can know that schools with more resources ______.
A. Tend to use AI to weaken the connection between teachers and students
B. Are more likely to help teachers use AI in a student-friendly way
C. Have already solved the problem of education unfairness with AI
D. Pay less attention to teachers’ training than schools with fewer resources
3.It can be inferred from Paragraph 5 that ______.
A. Schools with fewer resources will stop using new technologies like AI
B. Disadvantaged students are not willing to accept AI-supported teaching methods
C. The education gap may become larger due to the unequal distribution of resources
D. Well-resourced schools will reduce training for teachers to control costs
4.What does the teacher’s comment mean about the role of teachers in the age of AI
A. Teachers can be replaced by AI when providing knowledge to students
B. The human connection built by teachers is irreplaceable for students’ growth
C. AI is better than teachers at creating a social learning environment for students
D. Teachers should learn from AI to improve their ability to guide students
5.What is the main idea of the passage
A. To advise teachers to use generative AI as a “thought partner” in daily work
B. To introduce the training problems that teachers face when using AI
C. To prove that well-resourced schools can make full use of AI in teaching
D. To discuss the double-edged impact of generative AI on education fairness
【答案】CBCBD

Passage 5(考题猜想)
For the past 50 years, the highest-paying jobs have focused on knowledge work—especially in science, technology and analysis. But the rapid rise of generative AI is beginning to change panies are already considering replacing certain white-collar roles with AI. This change raises an important question: Will the future economy still need as many human workers
The impact affects not only future workers but also teachers and parents. For years, schools have focused on getting students ready for cognitive jobs. Now, with AI’s development, we need to decide which skills students truly need.
In the past, machines took over simple physical tasks. But now, AI can write, create code, and process information in ways that seem human. As a result, some beginner-level knowledge jobs may reduce. However, AI still struggles with tasks that require deep reasoning, empathy(共情), or dealing with new situations. It cannot truly understand human feelings.
That’s why “soft skills” will become more important than ever. Collaboration(协作), emotional awareness and creative problem-solving are difficult for AI to learn. The good news is that these skills can be taught in schools together with traditional subjects such as math and reading.
For example, teachers can use reflection exercises to help students recognize their own feelings. Tasks like “Write about a time you helped someone today” or “Describe how you solved a hard problem.” encourage self-awareness and empathy.
Students can also practice solving open-ended, real-world problems such as designing a social campaign or discussing historical decisions. These activities help develop flexible thinking and teamwork—skills that AI cannot copy.
A new challenge is that students may depend on AI to complete tasks, ignore the learning process. But true understanding requires effort. Teachers should stress the value of slower learning—through handwriting and hands-on projects(实践项目)—so that students can learn key skills before using AI tools.
No one knows how AI will change the job market. However, the most important lesson schools can teach is this: Don’t let shortcuts replace learning. Human abilities—especially the ability to work with others to solve difficult problems—will always matter.
1. What is special about AI compared with earlier automation(自动化)
A. It can replace manual labor.
B. It can do some cognitive jobs.
C. It can finish work independently.
D. It can understand human emotions.
2.Why are soft skills becoming more important
A. They are still difficult for AI to learn.
B. They are necessary for controlling AI.
C. They are easier to measure and test.
D. They can help companies save costs.
3.What can teachers do to help students build key skills
A. Stop students from using AI to do tasks.
B. Reduce the teaching of traditional subjects.
C. Show the importance of slower learning.
D. Encourage students to do more exercises.
4. What does the last paragraph want to tell us
A. AI’s influence on the job market is totally unclear now.
B. Students should avoid using AI tools in their studies
C. Students should value learning, and human abilities are important.
D. AI will soon change all the existing jobs, we must be prepared well.
5.How does the author feel about the future of human workers
A. Worried. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Optimistic

On November 1, 2025, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM大埃及博物馆) officially opened to the public. It is one of the most wonderful cultural projects of the 21st century. The museum covers about 500,000 square meters. That is as big as 70 football fields or twice the size of the Louvre Museum in Paris. So, it is famous as the world’s largest museum that focuses on just one civilization. What’s special is that it is only two kilometers away from the Great Pyramids of Giza. This makes a great connection between the ancient wonders and modern building skills.
International media have spoken highly of the museum. The Financial Times said it is a “must-see place”. It also talked about the museum’s excellent design, which gives visitors more than the usual museum experiences. National Geographic pointed out its unique location. It noted that the museum links the “view of the Pyramids with the treasures of Tutankhamun” very well. The building’s design was made by Heneghan Peng Architects after an international competition. The modern structure respects and matches the ancient monuments, but it still has its own special style.
Inside the museum, visitors can see a fantastic collection of old things. Since Tutankhamun’s treasures were found in 1922, this is the first time that all of them are shown together. These treasures include his famous golden mask and throne. A big staircase takes visitors past many royal statues and old objects. Passage 5(25·广州·期末)
Everyone knows magic tricks are fun, but not enough people realize that math can be as well.
Here is one of the most popular tricks to show you how amazing math can be.
Firstly, pick a friend with good math skills. To play the trick, your friend needs to know how to add numbers and do subtraction (减法).
Then, write down 1089 on a piece of paper without showing anyone.
Thirdly, ask your friend to write down a number with three different digits (数位). Tell him not to show you the number. Make sure the three digits cannot be the same. For example, he could pick 481.
Next, let your friend write down the number backwards. For example, 481 backwards is 184.
After that, make it into a subtraction problem. Now your friend has two numbers. Get him to subtract the smaller one from the larger one. In our example, the result should be 481-184=297. If the result has only two digits, ask your friend to add a zero at the beginning.
Next step, reverse this number as well. Ask your friend to take his answer and reverse the digits order again. If he added the zero at the beginning, remind him to include it as part of the number. For example, the reverse of 297 is 792.
Here comes the most exciting part. As the final calculation, get your friend to add the last two numbers and write down the result. In our example, 792+297=1089.
Finally, tell everyone that you know the last number your friend wrote down. Show others the piece of paper with the 1089 you’ve written down earlier.
In the trick, the last number will always be 1089. If your friend has a different answer, he did not follow instructions, or he made a mistake.
39. To play the trick, how many steps should you follow
A. 5. B. 6. C. 7. D. 8.
40. If your friend got “99” after doing the subtraction, what did he need to do
A. Go on with the other steps. B. Change the number into 099.
C. Tell others the number he got. D. Choose another number to start again.
41. What does the underlined part “reverse this number” in Paragraph 7 mean
A. Get the number subtracted. B. Turn the number upside down.
C. Write down the number backwards. D. Change the order of the number as you like.
42. What can we learn about the trick from the passage
A. It is the most popular trick.
B. The numbers should be reversed twice.
C. The final number can’t always be 1089.
D. The trick is friendly to people bad at subtraction.
【答案】39. D 40. B 41. C 42. B

C. A picture of eating chips is the most useful. D. Our brain is difficult to keep in good shape.
5. In order to remember new information, we should do the following EXCEPT________.
A. using our senses B. using our imagination to create visual connection
C. doing different to remind us D. getting plenty of sleep

A. Worried. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Optimistic
Passage 6(考题猜想)
At the end, they can get an amazing direct view of the pyramids through the large glass wall. Unlike Cairo’s old Egyptian Museum, which was only 10,000 square meters, this big space can show more than 100,000 artifacts at the same time. It lets visitors have a new and deep experience that they have never had before.
The opening of the museum is a very important moment for Egypt. People think it is key to making its tourism industry better. Passage 7(考题猜想)
Recently, China's Ministry of Education has released ten key measures to further improve the mental health of primary and secondary school students. Among these measures, developing healthy internet usage habits has drawn wide attention.
The background of these measures is the growing mental health challenges for students. With the rapid development of the internet, 97.3% of minors in China are internet users, according to the 6th Survey Report on Internet Usage of Chinese Minors. Too much internet use has caused problems like poor sleep, declining eyesight and distracted attention among students. Worse still, harmful online content, such as information that causes anxiety, encourages unhealthy competition, or is simply rude, seriously threatens their mental health.
To solve these issues, the measures put forward clear requirements. Schools must regulate the management of intelligent terminal products brought by students and strictly ban mobile phones and other electronic devices from entering classrooms. Meanwhile, students and parents are encouraged to jointly carry out a "Screen-Off Campaign" (息屏行动) to reduce too much dependence on the internet.
In addition, relevant departments will push website platforms to fulfill their supervisory responsibilities. They will also improve algorithm recommendation systems. This is to prevent harmful information from being sent to students. At the same time, they will firmly stop illegal behaviors online. The promotion of the "Minor(未成年人) Protection Mode" will also continue to make the online environment cleaner for young people.
These measures aim to guide students to use the internet healthily through the joint efforts of schools, families and society.

Passage 7(25·广州·期末)
From checking social media every minute to being lost in computer games, we usually overuse technology. “For many people, a moment without your phone or computer in sight can feel like a lifetime.” the Daily Mail commented.
A computer model called Mindy may make many people think twice. A team from a US company built a three-dimensional (3D) model to show the negative effects technology can have on human bodies in less than 800 years.
“Spending hours looking down at your phone tires your neck and throws your backbone off balance.” explained Caleb Backe, a health and wellness expert (专家) in the US. This, in turn, will make it more difficult for the muscles in our neck to support the head, making our back hunched and our neck wide.
“The way we hold our phones can cause pain in certain muscles of your hands.” Nikola Djordjevic, a doctor in Serbia, told the team. It affects the elbows too, making your arm hurt a lot. Scientifically, it is called cubital tunnel syndrome (肘管综合征). That’s why Mindy has a 90-degree elbow, and her hands look like she’s always holding a mobile phone.
Some people also commented that human evolution (进化) may not work this way. They believe that only good changes would be kept over the years. For example, changes that can enable people to live longer, instead of the negative effect of technology.
However, human lifestyles nowadays still cause worries. A model called Emma was built by researchers in the UK in 2019 to show how the way people work at their desks could change them in 20 years.
The research team built Emma based on the health problems mentioned by over 3,000 workers in France, Germany and the UK. Emma’s back stays bent, and her legs are swollen because of the time people spend in front of computers. With little time spent outdoors in the sun, her skin is pale, too.
While Mindy and Emma are just predictions about what may happen in the future, they remind us to think more about tech habits. Experts suggest taking breaks, stretching muscles, and balancing screen time with outdoor activities. After all, evolution is kind to those who get used to changes wisely—not those controlled by devices like phones and computers.
37. What does the underlined word “negative” in paragraph 2 mean
