A man lived happily in a village because everyone praised him.
One day, he heard some people talking about him. Hiding behind a tree, he started listening to them. But what they said made him sad. They said he was too proud.
From that day on, whenever he saw others talking, he thought they were saying something bad about him. He was unhappy all the time. His wife noticed this and took him to a wise old man.
The man told the wise old man everything.
The wise old man said, “Stay in my house tonight.”
The man agreed. When he went to sleep at night, the croaking of frogs (青蛙呱呱叫声) fell in his ears. A pond (池塘) was behind his room and the sound was coming from there. The more he wanted to ignore (忽略) the sound, the louder the frogs seemed to croak.
The next morning, the man went to the wise old man and said, “I couldn’t sleep well last night. It felt like there were hundreds of frogs in that pond. You must also have trouble because of them. Can I take them out and put them far away ”
The wise old man agreed.
So the man went to the pond. To his surprise, only ten frogs were caught. Then he went to ask the wise old man where the other frogs were.
The wise old man said, “Even at night there were only ten frogs. Because you paid a lot of attention to the noise, you thought there were hundreds of them. It is the same in your life as well. And always remember no matter how good you are, there will always be some people that will talk bad about you.”
The man understood the wise old man’s words and thanked him.

Many people love to listen to music while they are driving. Thanks to musical roads, they can now enjoy music when taking road trips without the radio on.
A musical road can create music when a car’s tyre (轮胎) goes over grooves (凹槽) on the road. To produce beautiful music, drivers must pass over the grooves at a certain speed. Signs often tell drivers the right speed.
The first musical road was created in Gylling, Denmark, in 1995. Since the mid-1990s, musical roads have appeared (出现) in many different countries. For example, in Japan, there are many musical roads throughout the country. To alert (使意识到) drivers to the incoming music, the roads are painted with colored musical notes. Drivers can decide whether to go over the grooves or not because they are set on the side of the road.
In Hungary there is a musical road in honor of one of the country’s most popular musical performers—Laszlo Bodi. Bodi was the lead singer for the band Republic. Formed in 1990, the group is one of Hungary’s biggest acts and is still active today. Sadly, Bodi passed away (去世) in 2013. But people still remember him as there’s a road where drivers can hear 30 seconds of the Republic song Road 67.
Musical roads are also keeping drivers safe. In Indonesia, a road plays the first six notes of Happy Birthday. The fifth note is a little out of tune (走调). This “mistake” keeps drivers awake. It has reduced the number of traffic accidents. Such is the power of music and musical roads.
