Dear Zhou Lin,
I’d like to tell you something about my middle school in Hong Kong. I have studied here for more than three months. At first, I was really not sure about everything, but now I feel more confident and I really love my school.
In Hong Kong, schools give students a lot of free time. This helps students learn how to manage their time. Our school day ends around 2 or 3 p.m. every day, so students can join interest classes and school clubs after school. I have joined the swimming team practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
However, the rules here are quite strict. During the first week, we got a handbook (手册). It has rules about homework, hair and what to wear. If our hair reaches our shoulders, we have to tie it up. We must wear white socks and sports shoes. As for schoolwork, we have to hand it in on time. If we don’t follow the rules, we will lose points and have to write a reflection (自我反省) about it.
The balance between free time and strict rules has shaped my learning experience. I’m really looking forward to my next year in Hong Kong!
Yours,
Sue

“Lift the dragon head! Stay together!” The captain’s (队长的) voice was loud. The crowd cheered, but I could only hear my own heart beat so fast, waiting for the order from the captain to start. It was the Spring Festival, and I was about to perform my first dragon dance.
As an American in China, I had always admired the dragon dance. When I was invited to join the team, I excitedly accepted, thinking it would be easy and fun. However, from the first practice, I realized it was much harder than I expected.
The dragon dance required strength, rhythm (节奏), and teamwork. If one person was off, the whole dragon would look awful. The dragon was heavier than I thought, and after minutes of lifting, my arms ached. My legs burned from all the jumping, and I kept stepping out of sync (不同步). Watching my teammates move smoothly, I felt discouraged (泄气的) and even considered giving up. But I reminded myself why I had joined—to challenge myself and experience Chinese culture. I kept practicing, learning to feel the rhythm instead of just copying the steps. Slowly, I improved.
Then, the real performance began. I listened carefully to the captain’s orders and moved with the beat. Then came the hardest move—the “Flying Dragon Jump.” I took a deep breath and lifted the dragon as high as I could. It flew through the air and landed smoothly. The crowd cheered loudly.
After the performance, I breathed hard, and sweat (汗水) covered my face. But I felt very proud. I worked hard, and it paid off. More than that, I had truly become part of something special.
59. What did the writer think of the dragon dance before the first practice
A. Easy and fun. B. Hard but interesting. C. Tiring and hard. D. Fun and exciting.

D. His teammates helped him.
61. What do we know about the text

C. The writer regretted joining in the dragon dance at last.
D. It was the Spring Festival when the writer performed the dragon dance.

If you go to a party, this article will help you a lot. It will teach you some useful ways and help you spend a happy party time with your friends.
Wait for your turn while you’re having dinner. It is traditional to serve the oldest women first at the table, and then the other women in the age order. Lastly, it’s for the men. Never start eating until the hostess begins to eat. Or you may make others unhappy or angry. While you’re eating, put the knife and fork on either side of the plate. After finishing eating, place them side by side in the centre of the plate.
Try your food. If you dislike the dish, it is polite to at least try eating a little. That shows your respect. This will make the host want to invite you again next time. It’s normal to leave some food on one side of your plate if you feel full. On the other hand, don’t try to leave your plate so clean that it looks like you haven’t eaten for days!
Make polite talks with those guests around you. That’s because dinner parties are not just about the food, and you can look for something common to talk with them. If you can answer others’ questions, they will think you are understanding. If you don’t want to talk, you can be just careful to look at others’ eyes while listening. They can see your heart.
Remember to thank the host and hostess before leaving. You can say you like the dinner or enjoy this happy service. Then they will also thank you for loving this party. As a result, they will believe you have a good time.
62. Who should be served first while you’re having dinner
A. Tony, who is 25. B. Mrs. Green, who is 87. C. Mrs. Smith, who is 75. D. Mr. Green, who is 60.
63. Which of the following pictures shows the right position of the knife and fork after finishing eating
A. B. C. D.
64. What is the polite way to do it if you don’t like the dish
A. Try eating a little. B. Tell the host and hostess directly.
C. Just talk with those guests around you. D. Never put it on your plate.
65. Which of the following may the writer agree with
A. You should try to leave your plate very clean after finishing eating.
B. You should not look at others’ eyes while listening to them.
C. You should say thanks to the host and hostess before leaving.
D. You should try to make some friends at the dinner party.

“What a pretty Jasmine flower! What a pretty Jasmine flower! Nice to see and nice to smell! Praiseworthy scent, and white as well.”
Have you ever heard of this famous song Molihua (Jasmine Flowers) Molihua is a Chinese folk song from Jiangsu Province. The song describes a custom of giving jasmine flowers. The song is so well-known that the jasmine flower became the Province Flower of Jiangsu in 2007.
The song made its first appearance in the 18th century. It was created during the Qianlong period (1735-1796) of the Qing Dynasty. In 1896, the song was used as a national anthem (国歌) by the Qing Dynasty in Europe. But it was temporary, only for a special task and it didn’t last for long. In 1982, the song found a place on a UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) list of recommended songs and was put into the musical textbooks in Asia.
When Hong Kong and Macao returned to China in 1997 and 1999, this music was played in the ceremonies (仪式). In 2018, with Second Farewell to Cambridge by the famous Chinese poet Xu Zhimo, Molihua was sung in Chinese by the King’s College choir (合唱团) in the University of Cambridge. In the choir’s 500-year history, no other Chinese songs have ever been recorded.
The song expresses sincere and simple feelings of Chinese people. People describe the music as “heart touching”. It is such a beautiful song that it almost stands for China abroad. This melody (旋律) is a cultural gift beyond boundaries (界限) from China to the world. Chinese people send the message of friendship to the whole world and they try to achieve worldwide understanding with music.
66. How does the writer start the text
A. By telling a story. B. By showing a saying.
C. By singing a song. D. By giving an example.
67. What does the song Molihua describe
A. The beauty of jasmine flowers. B. The custom of giving jasmine flowers.
C. People’s love for jasmine flowers. D. The history of jasmine flowers.
68. What does the underlined (画线的) word “temporary” in Paragraph 3 mean
A. Important. B. Special. C. Different. D. Short-term.
69. Which of the following is TRUE

Recently, a new type of AI robot has come into people’s homes. It is called “HomePal” and it can help with a lot of housework.
HomePal is about 1.2 meters tall and has a round body. Every morning, it can wake you up by playing your favorite music. Then, it can cook breakfast for you. It knows how to make different kinds of food.
After you go to school, HomePal starts to do the housework. It can sweep the floor, clean the windows and even wash the dishes. It moves carefully so that it won’t knock over any furniture(家具). When your parents come back from work, the house is always tidy and clean.
HomePal is also a good helper for students. It can help with homework and it can also tell interesting stories to help you relax. When it explains math problems to you, it won’t give you the answers directly. Instead, it guides you to think on your own.
On weekends, HomePal can play games with your family. It can play chess with your dad or dance with your mom. It even knows how to take photos. Last week, my family had a birthday party for my grandma. HomePal took many beautiful photos for us to record the happy moment.

Dear Tom,
Music plays an important part in my life. I listen to it every day on my way home after school. I like English songs very much because they helped me with my English a lot. When I was in Grade 7, my listening was poor. Sometimes I couldn’t understand my classmates when I had conversations with them. My English teacher asked me to listen to English songs and sing along with them. Gradually, my listening improved and I was really happy about it. And I have fallen in love with English since then.
Yours,
