The original 2016 film Zootopia won hearts with its story of predators(捕食者) and prey (猎物)learning to live together in harmony. Now, nearly a decade later, Zootopia 2 returns to the animated world, shifting the focus from natural enemies to a more modern conflict: the battle against greed and injustice. This time, the real "predators" are not animals who hunt, but those who seek to control land and power at the expense of others.
In the sequel, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are now official police partners. Their chemistry as a buddy-cop duo(搭档)is one of the film's highlights. After causing citywide chaos during a high-speed chase, they are sent to partner therapy — a clever narrative device that allows the movie to explore its core theme: understanding differences and resolving conflicts through communication.
The plot thickens when the pair investigates a mystery tied to Zootopia's 100th anniversary. Snakes, banned from the city since its founding due to long-held prejudice, become central to the case. Judy initially suspects someone is trying to sneak a snake into the city, but she and Nick soon uncover a deeper truth: the problem is not the snakes, but the unfair law that excludes them.
Their investigation leads them to the influential Lynxley family, founders of Zootopia, who are preparing to display a valuable relic at a grand fundraising event. There, they encounter Gary De'Snake, a bright blue pit viper(毒蛇)who is awkward yet surprisingly capable. When Gary steals the relic, the movie launches into an energetic heist(抢劫) sequence that sets a thrilling pace for the rest of the story.
Visually, Zootopia 2 surpasses its predecessor. Action scenes are richly detailed — like a dizzying chase through the bustling Marsh Market — filled with visual jokes and lively animation. The film also expands the world of Zootopia by introducing new districts and animal communities, while bringing back beloved characters such as Mr. Big and Flash the Sloth.
At its emotional core, Zootopia 2 carries forward the original's powerful message of inclusion and belonging. This time, it declares simply: "Reptiles(爬行动物) are people too." With a more vibrant and populated city than ever, the film leaves audiences feeling that Judy and Nick's adventures — and the world they protect — are only just beginning.
24. What is the main social issue explored in Zootopia 2
A. Environmental protection.
B. Economic inequality.
C. unfairness and exclusion.
D. Lasting friendship.
25. Why does the film include the plot device of "partner therapy" for Judy and Nick
A. To show they are bad at their jobs as police officers.
B. To provide comedic relief through their arguments.
C. To introduce a new therapist character to the story.
D.To naturally explore themes of understanding differences and conflict resolution.
26. What can be inferred about Gary De'Snake from the text
A. He is a serious and threatening bad guy.
B. He is a clumsy but friendly snake.
C. He is a skilled despite awkward snake.
D. He is a member of the Lynxley family.
27. Where can you find such a piece of writing
A. A letter. B. A story book. C. A magazine. D. A science report.

In the subjects we study, both English and Chinese have dictionaries of their own. Chemistry, of course, also has a "dictionary" — the Periodic Table of the Elements(元素周期表).
There are a total of 118 elements in the periodic table. It is a list of chemical elements arranged by increasing atomic number. Because the periodic table can accurately predict the properties of various elements and their relationships, it is widely used in chemistry and other scientific fields as a vital framework for analyzing chemical behavior. Dmitri Mendeleevs invention of the periodic table in 1869 is considered a milestone in the history of chemistry.
Although 118 elements have been discovered, the exploration of the periodic table continues. History shows that exploration in basic science often brings unexpected technological revolutions. For example, compounding new materials has greatly promoted the development of experimental techniques and tools. In medicine, fighting major diseases like cancer requires targeted therapeutic drugs. In the search for these cures, scientists may discover new isotopes(同位素) or elements. Who is to say that elements discovered on the theoretical "Island of Stability" won't possess astonishing characteristics Basic research is about sowing seeds for future possibilities.
So, when you ask if there are any new elements, the answer is yes. But now it's becoming increasingly difficult to find new elements. Scientists often need several weeks or even months of continuous experiments to produce even a few nuclei of the target element, with extremely low yields. New elements decay in less than a second after their birth, making it very difficult to detect and confirm their properties. Identifying the decay signal of the target atom from a massive background of other particle reactions is like searching for a needle in a haystack. In the near future, new elements will be discovered, and scientists will try different combinations of nuclear reactions to synthesize target atoms more efficiently.
Discovering new elements is not just about satisfying curiosity or inheriting the spirit of exploration from predecessors; it is a quest into the unknown. It will not only fill potential gaps in the periodic table but also expand the boundaries of human knowledge, verify our understanding of the universe, and promote the development of future technology. You ask: Are there still new elements waiting to be discovered The answer is: Undoubtedly.
28. What is the main function of the periodic table according to the passage
A. To list all discovered elements in order of discovery date.
B. To serve as a basic dictionary for chemical education in schools.
C. To record the names and symbols of elements used in daily life.
D. To estimate the elemental characteristics of elements and explain chemical behavior.
29. What does the"Island of Stability"refer to in Paragraph 3
A. It is a real place where new elements are found.
B. It suggests that some future elements might be stable and useful.
C. It is a term used to describe elements that do not decline at all.
D. It refers to the part of the periodic table that is fully understood.
30. What does the underlined word "decay" in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A.break down B.make up C. cut off D. break out
31. What is the author's attitude towards the discovery of new elements
A. Doubtful and uninterested. B. Pessimistic and critical.
C. Objective yet supportive. D. Indifferent and neutral.
D
If five-year-olds could read academic research reports, they might be alarmed by what they would find in a recent one from the Stanford Center on Longevity. The report opened with a bit of promising news: "In the United States, demographers (人口统计学家) predict that as many as half of today's five-year-olds can expect to live to the age of 100." But that was followed, several pages down, by a haunting prediction: "Over the course of 100-year lives, we can expect to work for 60 years or more."
In the United States, the average retirement age is 62. For most people, 40 or so years of work is more than enough, so the idea of an additional 20 is disconcerting. Perhaps that's because we are imagining 60 years of work as it is for many people today: inflexible, all-consuming, poorly matched to the rhythms (节奏) of life. For the sake of the five-year-olds, we should redesign work.
"We work increasingly harder through the years when we're having children," said Laura Carstensen, director of the Stanford Center on Longevity. Work and family responsibilities both commonly peak in mid-adulthood. They can be really stressful, especially for women, who primarily bear the heavy burden (负担) of childcare.
To address this, Carstensen proposes allowing workers to scale their hours up or down throughout their careers, based on their responsibilities outside of paid work. She imagines two parents being able to temporarily reduce their full-time jobs to 20 hours a week when caring for their young children, and then gradually increasing their working hours later on. Under this model, people would work the same amount overall as they do now, but spread work out over more years of their lives.
Moreover, working less during life's "peak periods" would allow people to spend more time on their hobbies and with their friends. This could help ward off exhaustion. At some point in their 20s or 30s, many workers enter a season of life when jobs and families "steal" time from friendships. Temporarily reducing workloads could mitigate (缓和) that shift and allow people to live more varied lives.
This vision makes a 60-year career feel manageable, but there are significant barriers to redesigning work in this way. "When we started having dual-earner households, that translated into buying more stuff," said Louis Hyman, a historian at Cornell University. So when people stay healthier for longer, it is unlikely that they will be able to opt (选择) out of working more.
That said, retirement as we know it is a relatively new invention. Until the late 19th century, people typically worked until they were no longer physically able to. What has changed between then and now is that retirement became financially feasible. People's incomes rose as productivity increased. And in the 1930s, the U.S. government started distributing Social Security payments to support people in their old age.
It might be difficult to imagine a more humane (有人情味的) style of work becoming the new norm. However, the world we are living in now would have been just as hard to imagine for our ancestors who practically worked up until the moment they died.
32. According to the article, what's the main problem with today's working career for most people
A. They may have to work full - time for as long as 60 years.
B. They feel tired of having to engage in various social activities.
C. They find it hard to work their way up when they have children.
D. They struggle to balance their work and family commitments in middle age.
33. which of the following charts best shows Laura Carstensen's vision of our future working career
A. B.
C. D.
34. According to the article, what might prevent people from retiring from work
A. Gender inequality. B. The high cost of living.
C. Unexpected health problems. D. Their desire to have a more varied life.
35. What can we learn from the last two paragraphs
A. Retirement is an idea that dates back to before the Industrial Revolution.
B. Retirement wouldn't have become possible without technological progress.
C. It was impossible for our ancestors to build up savings by doing a full-time job.
D. Our ancestors worked until their deaths because of their poor working conditions.

It's winter now. Many of us are heading to school and back in the dark, and sometimes our mood is lower as well. We can feel more tired than normal, lack energy, or find it difficult to concentrate. ____36____. For those with milder symptoms, here are three ways to help you manage the darker days and even embrace them.
Focus on what you can do.
Psychologist Kari Leibowitz says growing up in the U.S. in a summer - centric town meant she used to view winter as limiting and uncomfortable, but travelling to Norway where some places get almost no daylight in the depths of winter changed her mindset. She found that instead of people succumbing to (屈服) a darker mood, they embraced their circumstances, finding different hobbies from snow sports to knitting and cooking. ____37____This could include winter walks, movie nights, cooking a new meal, or ice skating.
38
With our work and social calendars ticking along as normal, we may wonder why we feel so tired. But Kari says we need to accept that our bodies need more rest in winter. Just like animals and plants, she says we should be slowing down and changing our behavior.
Dr. Em May Armstrong, a plant researcher, says the key is finding the balance between resting more and becoming too tired. She suggests so - called "active dormancy (休眠)" — mixing a slower restful lifestyle with activities that still keep us mentally engaged. 39
Make plans.
While resting more is natural, it is still important to make time for the things that make us happy and to mix with other people, according to General Practitioner (全科医生) Gavin Francis. 40 Doing this means you're committed, and a low mood nearer the time won't be able to stop you.
Winter will come regardless. By shifting how we think about it, we can regain some joy from the darker months.
Accept you need more rest.
Seasonal affective disorder can affect anyone.
Therefore, it is necessary to take some medicine to improve your mood.
Some people even enjoy winter more than summer because of the beautiful snow.
E. He suggests planning activities in advance, focusing on spending time with those who make you feel good.
F. This could include activities such as knitting, repairing clothes, or practices that help get you ready for the year ahead.
G. She also learned that changing your approach to focus on what you can do during this time was surprisingly effective.

阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Everyone at school called her "Silent Meher", not because she couldn't speak, but because she chose not to. Since childhood, Meher had struggled with a serious stutter (口吃). Whenever she tried to speak in class, her words were stuck in her throat. Her classmates made fun of her stutter, "H-h-h-h! M-M-Meher!" Even one of her teachers once said, "Just write it down, Meher; it'll be faster."
Meher learnt quickly that silence was safer. Thus she kept to herself, sitting in the classroom corner with her pad, where her pencil became her voice. She drew worlds where she could speak freely and no one judged her. Yet, no one even saw her art — not because she didn't want them to, but because no one ever asked.
Then came the school's yearly talent show. Posters everywhere read: "Find Your Voice!" How funny, Meher thought. But her art teacher, Miss Sofia, noticed the quiet girl always alone, always drawing. One day, she looked over Meher's shoulder and what she saw took her breath away. "Meher...these are beautiful. Why don't you hand them in to the talent show " Meher shook her head in nervousness. "G-go on st-tage " she stuttered, her voice shaky. "In f-r-o-nt- of th-em " But Miss Sofia smiled gently, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "What if you didn't have to speak...just show your story " For the first time, hope sprang up in Meher's eyes.
That night, an idea popped into Meher's mind: animation(动画)! What if she told her story through animation Over the next two weeks, she threw her heart into it. Using her pad and a borrowed screen from Miss Sofia, Meher created a short film called "The Girl Behind the Curtain". The girl in the film stuttered, too, but every time someone made fun of her, a curtain grew taller around her. Slowly, with each kind word and moment of courage, the girl pulled holes in the curtain until sunlight shone through.

Dear parents,
Thank you for talking with me about managing digital products this year. I understand your intention to help me focus on studies, but I'd like to share why using my phone under moderate supervision can aid learning.
First, I'm confident in my self - discipline. I believe students shouldn't indulge in the virtual world. Instead of a complete ban, we can use built - in screen time management tools like following app - recommended off - screen schedules for motivation.Second, digital products have many benefits when used properly. Search engines and resources on efficient devices can quickly clear revision confusion and build a better knowledge map. Vocabulary apps expand word banks, and news platforms provide writing materials. Finally, proper relaxation, like watching high - quality short videos, helps me recharge mentally and stay positive.
All in all, I promise to focus on senior year. I'm sure we can find a solution that eases your concerns and suits my tech philosophy.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
【答案】范文二
Dear Mom and Dad,
After our talk, I understand your concern about my studies and your love for me. However, you can let go of your worries and reconsider my request to keep my electronic devices.
Firstly, using electronic dictionaries or AI tools to look up words and concepts is necessary for my learning efficiency. Secondly, teachers sometimes send important announcements or homework in the class group on WeChat, so I need my phone to check and reply. More importantly, in today's society, we need to use the internet to broaden our horizons. If I'm deprived of my phone, I can't develop online skills or access important information. I understand your anxiety and want to be my best this year. So, I have an alternative plan. I'll delete game and entertainment apps like Weibo and only keep educational and practical ones. For phone usage, restrictions like 15 minutes for WeChat and one - hour total for other apps are reasonable.
Based on these reasons and the plan, I hope you'll reconsider my proposal and believe I can handle my studies independently, and we can strive to be better together.
Kind regards,
Li Hua
【答案】范文三
Dear parents,
I am writing to express my full support for your proposal to manage my electronic devices during this crucial school year. I understand your concerns completely.
Firistly, the constant distraction of phones and social media can indeed fragment focus and consume valuable time. As a high school student facing increasing academic pressure, I recognize the need for a disciplined environment to concentrate on my studies and personal growth. Moreover, your suggestion provides a clear structure to help me avoid digital temptation and build better habits. While I may occasionally miss the immediate access, I believe this temporary guidance is a necessary step toward long-term self-discipline.
From my perspective, I am confident that with your support, I can use this time more productively, achieve my academic goals, and ultimately learn to manage technology responsibly on my own.
Thank you for your care and foresight.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

On the night of the show, Meher stood nervously behind the stage curtain. Her heart was pounding like a drum and her palms were sweaty. When her name was called, she took a deep breath and walked onto the dark stage. With her animation appearing on the screen, the audience fell silent, totally absorbed in the story of the silent girl behind the curtain. When the final scene showed sunlight bursting through the holes, lighting up the girl's smiling face, all the people burst into thunderous applause. Meher stood in the spotlight, tears welling up in her eyes. He realized that she had finally been heard without uttering a single word.
After the show, classmates began approaching Meher and talking to her. “Your animation was amazing,” one girl said sincerely. “I never knew you were so talented.” Another boy added, “I’m sorry we made fun of you.” For the first time, there was respect in their voices when they spoke to her. Meher felt a wave of warmth spreading through her body as she smiled shyly at them. Though she still stuttered when she tried to speak, no one laughed at her. Instead, they waited patiently for her to finish, which gave Meher great courage. Since then, Mesher has become a confident, optimistic, and outgoing child who is not afraid to express herself.

On the night of the show, Meher stood nervously behind the stage curtain. She wouldn’t step on the stage, but her creation would. With the film beginning, the hall was in silence, then whispers, and then tears. When the final image disappeared and the simple words “By Meher” showed, the audience erupted into thunderous applause. Even the ones who had made fun of her stood up and clapped. Her “friends”, who used to copy her stutter, avoided eye contact now. But it wasn’t shame that made them look away, but a sudden, deep respect.
After the show, classmates began approaching Meher and talking to her. “That was so awe-inspiring,” someone said. “You’re really brave, Meher,” said another. One girl whispered, “I st-ut-ter t-o-” Meher met her eyes and offered a warm, understanding smile. She didn’t need to say much; the connection was already there, wordless but strong. From that day on, “Silent Meher” disappeared. Surrounded by warmth, kindness and understanding, she became confident and wasn’t the girl with the stutter anymore. She was the girl who told stories and shared laughter. She lived a life full of happiness and hope.

M: I’ve learned so much about France, like its cities, food, and customs.
W: Yes. By living there for the past few months, you have learned a lot, especially its culture. But in order to get even better at speaking French, you need to expand your vocabulary.
Text 4讨论天气
W: I hate driving in winter. Even on bright days like this, the sun is so low in the sky that it almost blinds you.
M: The weather is much better today. I had to drive up to my mother’s last weekend in that heavy snow! Still, at least there hasn’t been any ice on the roads so far.
Text 5 如何应对压力
M: I’ve been feeling stressed lately. My grandmother was ill last week and I have an important exam this Thursday. How do you stay calm at times like this
W: When I’m stressed, I do some exercise. I feel peaceful afterwards.

Text 6对新书出版感到焦虑
M: I sent my new book to the publisher last week, but I haven’t heard a word back yet.
W: Hmm, is that a promising sign or a worrying one
M: Honestly, I’m not quite sure. Probably the latter. I’m really on edge about this. What if they despise it
W: Come on, stay optimistic. You’ve managed to write three books! Most people can’t even finish one. That’s no small feat.
M: You’re absolutely right. I should focus on the positive aspects.
W: Exactly! Hey, why don’t we step away from all this for a bit and do something enjoyable to get this off your mind
M: That sounds good. What do you have in mind

W: It’s great to have you back from university, dear! Come inside. You father and sister have gone to the supermarket. We’re preparing a big dinner for you.
M: Thanks, Mom.
W: Come and sit down first. Take a short break. How’s everything been at school
M: Pretty good overall. Well, there’s one thing I want to talk to you about. I started a work-study program at an accounting firm, but I’ve had a sudden change of heart. I’d rather not work with numbers. Instead, I want to switch to a creative field, like literature.
W: That’s a big change! They are like two completely different worlds.
M: Do you think it’s strange to change majors
W: Oh, I changed my major when I was your age, too. I know you’ll do well in any field. The only thing I’m worried about is the job opportunities in creative areas. Follow your heart, but don’t ignore future job options. Please keep this in mind while choosing a major.

W: Hello, sir. Welcome to Eurasia Associates. Do you have an appointment
M: I don’t, sorry. I’m looking for Ms. Greenwell. Last month, she mentioned I should visit her office to negotiate the prices of our business deal.
W: I see. I have her schedule in front of me. But I’m afraid there aren’t any appointments listed, nor any mention of visitors coming in this afternoon.
M: Sure. But is it possible to drop into her office after lunch
W: She’s in the conference room giving a presentation to investors until 3: 00 pm. May I take a message for her
M: Please mention that Tom from AC International stopped by. Here’s my business card with my mobile number. I’m free for a chat on the phone any time today. And I can come back to the office anytime next week.
W: Will do, sir. Thanks for coming by. I’ll deliver this message for you.

W: Hi, this is Mary, the manager at Henry’s Drill. I noticed your application for a waiter position. Unfortunately, we’ve already filled all server positions. However, we do have an opening for a host. You’ll greet and guide guests to their tables, ensuring they have a pleasant start to their meal. Are you open to that
M: Thanks for calling. I was mainly looking for something serving tables. I used to bring food and drinks to the customers.
W: I understand. But being a host can be a great experience, too. It’s a fantastic way to develop your communication skills and get a full picture of how the restaurant operates. You’ll have a similar salary, and it’s a bit more relaxed.
M: That sounds interesting. But I’m not sure about working alone at the front of the restaurant. I’m a bit nervous about handling everything by myself, especially during busy hours.
W: You won’t be alone. There’s always at least one more host on a shift with you, so you’ll have support and it won’t feel difficult.
M: I’m interested in the host position, then.
W: Excellent! We’ll just need to schedule one more appointment to chat with the boss and the shift manager. Then, you’ll be able to start your training.
M: Sure, that sounds good. Thank you for considering me for the position.

W: Good morning, everyone. It’s time for our weekly health class. How many of you feel tired all the time Raise your hands, please. Wow, there are a lot of hands! Doctors recommend that teens get at least 8-10 hours of sleep each night. However, in practice, many teens struggle to make it. This is often due to a conflict between nature and modern life. During our teenage years, our body clocks tend to move forward. This natural change makes us want to go to sleep and wake up much later. However, as society usually demands we get up early, the key is finding a way to fall asleep earlier. Later on in the lesson, we’ll be talking about how stress and screen addiction can also impact our sleep. But first, we’re going to study the 10-3-2-1 sleep rule. This means that ten hours before bed, you stop drinking tea, coffee, and other energy drinks. Your last meal of the day should be at least three hours before bed. Homework and other work should be completed at least two hours before bed. One hour before bed, you shut off all screens. These tips will help ready your body for sleep, and help you drop off to sleep much more quickly.
